I didn't receive an email with the tickets over the weekend, and some folks on reddit were posting that they received theirs before the weekend.

I think we're out of luck.

It might be easier to become a contestant on Jeopardy than to get tickets for this taping

My wife and I are in the audience for the California taping. 2 of 350 people.

Can't post any other details.

So in true TG studio taping fashion they are probably going to position your wife right in the front row behind the presenters and you waaaaaay in the back and out of sight?

do we know if it was shot in 4k and will be streaming in 4k? My Prime is up in a few days and I didn't want to renew it. I can find it online thru other sources, but ifs going to be shot and streamed in 4k, I might re-up my Prime.

In a recent interview Andy Wilman discusses that is one of the difficulties they had filming the new show.

He's pretty funny, I enjoyed watching it...

Which pose is that? I also don't own a SWRT jacket.

They can't specify who you bring, but the tickets have lots of verbiage on the bottom asking you to respect that they're trying to keep a 1:1 ratio for the audience shots...and I'm short.

So yeah, probably.

Yeah I attended the FIRST attempted TG USA pilot taping that had Tanner, Adam Carolla in the Clarkson role, and some DIY guy from HGTV whom i don't remember. Met Andy Wilman in person that day, make no mistake, he runs the show like the Wizard of Oz (pay no attn to the man behind the curtains).

And he constantly shuffled the studio audience members around depending on the segment and camera angles and also exiled the 'less camera friendly' faces to the back...

Which is perfectly fine w me as I have no wish to see ugly average joe faces on my TV taking up prime audience real estate.

I know exactly what you're talking about. I was still in college then, interning at American Honda in Torrance and living near there. We got tickets for that original pilot taping too (at some hangers just off the 105 freeway, if I remember correctly). Except they overbooked by a ton and we never made it in the building. Stood for a few hours outside, baking in the sun, only to be told that they were full.

So, how was the unaired pilot? Anecdotally, I've heard that their segment was a lot better than what ended up airing on History Channel eventually.

Lucky you psg. I was hoping to get a callback with my comment. I said I would wear my Argentina Pumas and Jeremy could make fun of me and/or destroy them

I got to meet Andy Wilman and one of the writers during the TG-UK US tour special and they are funny as crap in real life. Especially the writer (whose name I can't remember right now).

We would have debriefs before and after each filming session and he kept us in stitches the whole time.

It was more or less a carbon copy of the TG UK format. When the episode 'cuts' to a prefilmed segment, they played that segment on all the TVs in the studio and we watched it real time and when the film segment ended, we'd all applause in reaction to the video real time.

Often they made us do multiple takes of any given audience reaction and would basically direct us how to 'oooh' 'ahhhh', applause, laugh in unison, how loud, etc. Basically what you think is a single unbroken studio segment has been cut up and reedited as well.

Any camera angle change is a potential edit point.

Was linked to this after the Andy Wilman video..

Long but pretty funny, just over half way so far, basically Clarkson answering a lot of random questions from the audience.

That was awesome. Tent was out in the middle of nowhere, in Apple Valley (at the top of the Cajon Pass, on the way to Vegas), CA.

All I will say is that the trio is back and it's just as good as Top Gear at its height. They're just sick of the BBC's ****.

Clarkson, Hammond, and May seemed very personable and Clarkson did most of the talking.

Also, I highly doubt we make it on TV, but I was standing shoulder to shoulder with Matt Farah for 80% of the show. Exchanged a few words with him and he seemed like a nice guy too.

I assume you're not allowed to talk about what they discussed? Was it in any way similar to their studio segments from Top Gear? Did they just stick to car news related topics?
