Calling Automatic RS-Ts(and OBS's :D )
Hey, I would like to get a listing of all you guys and the mods you guys got. I wanna see what I can look forward to. My goal for my RS-T is about a 14sec quartermile. Comming from a 17 sec (or worse) quarter with out mod to the tranny (minus a cooler) I think that is as fast as I can get on stock internals. What do you guys think? Also What are you guys running? Any suggestions when going around after it is installed? How to drive it..how to listen for tranny problems. ect...

Just throw on a small turbo, run about 5lbs and you'll be low 14's.

through on a better turbo and get good engine management and you can run 10 Psi all day long.

Tranny first
I'd say fix up the tranny first. Synthetic tranny fluid, tranny cooler (edit...just read you had that already), torque converter upgrade and possibly a valve body. Yep, it'll cost a bit of $$$ but its a worthwhile investment into insuring your tranny lasts. You won't gain hp but your 1/4 mile times will drop and your drivability would be much improved.

Torque converter info
Post Torque Converter question here
As for the valve body, it eliminates slippage of the clutchpack during shifting. It just instantly grabs. This reduces transmission heat build up, slows down wear from the slipping parts and 'may' lower your 1/4 mile time(s) due by reducing the time the clutchpacks take to engage (no slipping in between gears). You can read more about Level Ten's Valve Body (Hydrosystem) here. |

anywho... modding your torque converter to a higher stall speed can be a great mod. I took a good sec off my old Conquest TSi 0-60mph. If you got a high reving motor and turbo.... even better. You'll get into juicy part of the power band quicker and stay there longer. |

My RS-T is an auto. Tranny cooler, AMSOIL and Pro Torque convertor are the mods so far. Waiting to see what people find with their TB upgrades before I leap in.
It's not tuned, so I can't post any times yet... Cheers! John |

after i put in a jdm engine, ill be buying a WRX 4eat and TCU and sending the valve body to level10 and the torque converter to pro torque.
oh yeah for the guys who get to the point of running a FMIC...at the rim of the world rally we noticed something very interesting on a wrx that i figured us 4eat guys could use.... since they had a FMIC, they had space at the hood scoop to do whateve rthey want...so what did they do? they put an oil cooler there. i was thinking we could use it to place the tranny cooler...but if you drag race thats probably not the best place (heat soak). |

yeah theres no way i can afford to send my current tranny to them and have that week-long or so downtime. plus with the WRX tranny we will have a constant 45/55 torque split in D instead of 90/10. if i coudl get one for as much as riftswrx got his, id be a very happy camper
doh..you were probably talking about the tranny cooler i dont know how bad heat soak would be. you could probably create a duct underneath it and not allow a lot of the hot air into it. |

actually the torque split is more like 60front 40rear for the MPT- muti-plate transfer tranny.
