For the lazy...

I looks nice, and it addresses the chrome in the front. Although with that new grille the back, with all its chrome lights and strips, will look even more out of place. Kind of reminds me of the bug-eye, how the front was so radical, but they stuck to a more traditional design for the back. Only this time it is going to be the other way around.

Default Tires?

Do the tires look any wider and with a shorter sidewall? To me they do. I'm wondering if the Oz-spec models get 215/45x17 tires? Or 215/50x17? (sorry for the double posting...)

I will be a little disappointed if this is the optional grille, just because it looks more like an aftermarket tack-on than anything else. I would have liked to see an STI style honeycomb, but I guess that is being reserved for the actual STI.

But overall, it looks like the same thing that was on the New Jersey car, so I would assume that this is the optional grille we will get in the states.

The sad part is I guess the aussies complained more or at least Subaru Austrailia listened to the people to make it standard vs charging for it in NA.

SOA make this standard in 09! and let people pay for that fugly one on there now ;p

Yeah, it looks like someone grabbed some expanded aluminum (grillcraft, etc) from Pep-Boys and modified (cut out) a large portion of the grille with a dremel, bondo and some rattle-can paint.

I thought of the optional grille as an improvement until I saw them side-by-side at the dealer. I surprisingly preferred the regular grille. The optional grille did in fact, look tacked-on. I'm also not one for the mesh grille look either, but the regular one looked so much better in person. I didn't really think the chrome stood out that much and the darker color on the upper horizontal looked good. The Quartz silver looked good (regular grille) and the package 2b model was dark grey, which is a real nice color.

Yell at the OP for you being lazy? If you're lazy, it would be easier to click on the link to see the Aussie WRX than taking the time to write to the OP that he should have included a photo in his post.

But I agree with him. I hate these posts that are like :

Headline of Article

It makes it easier for everyone viewing the post to just include the pic. In this case, I found a bigger version than the original article had.

You're right in that it makes it easier for people viewing the posts, Chuck. I'm just trying to stand up for the web sites because most of them are businesses that rely on traffic (not only hits, but # of unique visitors, delivered advertisement impressions, and more "fun" stuff) as a main source of revenue.

Oh believe me, I've been thinking about that waaaay too much.

New England dealers only stock cars for soccer moms and their emasculated husbands. I've been looking all through local inventory online and have yet to find an '08 impreza.

Thanks for the support USCTrojan4JC and explaining the web traffic angle. Furthermore, I wasn't about to just copy and paste any pics here, not knowing what the originating site's regulations are in terms of copyrights and such. You never know. No harm done in the end so all is good.

Did any of you actually read the article? It also mentions that there will be substatial performance differences. Sounds like there might be a tighter suspension for them??

We will be getting tighter suspension. This is pretty normal on any Australian/Japanese car.

They also mentioned something about "bump steer" apparantly with Australian WRX suspension when going around a corner if it hit a bump they would go sideways. They fixed this in the 08.

We are also getting alluminium floor pedals.

Here is a brochure they gave out with the cars first preview.
