I was in the middle of replacing my studs and when I pulled out the LH Inboard stud, oil started leaking as pictured. I soaked it up with a rag and left it open for roughly an hour and nothing more poured out. Has anyone ever experienced this?
I'm cheap and if it wasnt leaking before and the motor runs good then I would just clean it up, put some copper rtv or other sealant on the threads of the new stud, put her in there and call it a day.
I've seen that before on a n/a Forester, except it was coolant. I think whoever worked on it prior screwed the stud in too far. While your situation is not ideal, at least the crack is not in an area of pressure. The passageway above the stud is just drain back. Your best bet is to put a good coat of rtv on the portion of the stud that threads into the head. Obviously this is just a hack, but may be enough to get you by. If all else fails, throw a cylinder head on. Ej205 heads can be found for silly cheap.

Yeah I just threw on the new studs and haven’t noticed anything leaking yet. If it wasn’t a problem before then it probably isn’t now. Hopefully this thing keeps on chugging at 180k
