If I was to move to the US, where should I move to?
Mostly a hypothetical question, really....but I'm kinda sorta entertaining the notion of moving to the US.
I started my company about 2 years ago (importing DJ equipment as a distributor), but since then, I took on the rights to distribution for ALL of north america. At this point, I'd say 80% of my sales are in the US. Now, I'm, doing fine exporting the stuff from Canada to the US, but there are some drawbacks...it is still a pain to ship stuff over the border..with all the paperwork, long shipping times and it is expensive...I figure it'd be MUCH easier to do all this from the states, yknow... But where would be an ideal place to move? I'd like to stick with a place similar to Montreal....a multi-cultural city that has everything, but not a city thats super huge, like LA or NYC...and a place that isnt super white trashy etc... So whats out there? San Francisco/San Jose? Somewhere in Florida? NJ (nicer parts)? CO?

seriously...as much as I'm not a big fan of the US (I dont hate it, but it does have its advantages), it would be much cheaper and easier to live there...especially for my business.... |

No matter what these idiots tell you, NJ is a great place. You can split work between Philly and NYC, plus there are plenty of smaller NJ cities to do your thing.

So paperwork is a good reason?
Look, bitch, you either love this country or you don't! We don't need "citizens of convenience", eh! But I hear Oregon is nice. |

Denver, Colorado or Salt Lake City, Utah.
Yes I'm serious. I've lived in SLC all of my life and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. There's so much to do around here with the canyons and lakes and stuff, it's not even funny. Night life isn't quite as large as other cities, but it's not bad either. And waking up and looking out your window to see Mountains everywhere covered in snow is just awesome. |

It's terribly expensive to live there, and considering Gooseman's business, which is not a store front, why would he move to an expensive part of the country just to resell equipment? I spent 18 years in NJ, and it's the worst state I've ever been in. Goose, if you're used to Canada, move to up state NY or NH or VT or something. You'll be close to your home and it's similar climate and inexpensive to live. |

just kidding. Actually, everyone I've spoken with says that Chicago is a great place to live. San Fran would be another option, but hope you've got $$$. |

If you want nice weather and good prices, move to NC. It's booming but it's still cheap and very nice weather. |
