Default Outback Sti

...6 months, 1.5x my original budget, my wife threatening all sorts of physical pain... pretty average project car.

Ok the important stuff. Built ej257 w/forged pistons. Everything brand new except for the headers, exhaust manifold, wiring harness, ecu, which came from a 02 WRX. TMIC and vf39 sourced used from nasioc. Full 3 inch catless exhaust, 07 WRX transmission.

Open source road tune. Probably puts down around 290 HP at the wheels.

I love the orginal OB logo. Hard to find as decals anymore.

Enkei EV5s in Dunlop SP Sport Signatures. 225/50/17 I had these tires on my WRX and loved them, so I had to get a new set for summer. The EV5s are not nearly as nice as my RPF1s, but I'll live. They wouldn't fit anyway.

Of course, KYB GR2s and Kings.

Thanks to John at Outback Auto in Auburn, WA. Did the swap and put up with my pushy ass. Bring your subies there! Happy trails kids... Jefe
UPDATE 8/14/10: Lots of new mods!
Hey kids, back for more.
Recent mods include:
04 STi Steering Wheel

02-03? UKDM STi Cluster

04 STi hood scoop and splitter, custom mounted on a scoopless hood, and color matched to the grey panel color

MY??? JDM STi front strut bar

Also put in 6k HID headlights. I think you know what those look like...
Big thanks to JohnJohn at Outback Auto for everything. You rule dood!

Meh, maybe. If I can find a set of 04's for under $500 (yeah right). Not too worried about brakes; the OB brakes actually do a pretty good job for now.

These are just the summer shoes, for offroad and winter I'm getting some Geolander AT/S tires on the stock wheels.

Nice dude. Keep it riding high. Best suby sleeper I've seen in a while.
Does your temp gauge not work, or did you blow HG's in the pic?

The car is not overheating, the gauge is just displaying incorrectly. The temp sensor is the problem. The OEM cluster's temp gauge did that too. I monitor the coolant temp with Rom Raider every so often, it seems to be doing fine. Just one more little thing on this car that doesn't work... personally I'm way more concerned about not having a working airbag or CEL.

I loved my WRX, but always bottomed it out. I felt I needed way more clearance for dirt roads and snow, and doing this was way more fun (and cheaper) than simply buying a OBXT and modding it instead.

Thanks for the props!

needs black fmic, hood scoop delete, and brakes(yes I think you do need them, what's a quick car without good brakes? you can stop a few times nice, but you will cook those things if you drive even mildly hard)
