Lowered XV
There was no XV section so since it's basically a lifted Impreza I thought I'd throw this in here. I lowered my XV a bit ago and for any of those interested I can provide the info and parts I used. There wasn't much out there in the way of information and I had to do some guessing and checking to get it right. Anyway here are some pics and b/c all the XV forums have been very against lowering an XV I expect I might get the same response here so without further ado, Bring It Flame On!!!
Parts Used: 2010 wrx struts, H&R lowering Springs, SPC rlca's for 08+ WRX, and did the 19mm fozzy sway There are other options out there including coilovers but I was able to source these parts ans install them for around $600. for struts and spring anything 08+ WRX should work. Before After Took it up some forest service roads for some hiking and she's still got plenty of clearance for that http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y51...808_102605.jpg

I like it. Makes me wish I could put the XV flares and skirts on without changing body panels.
But, why? |

I bought an XV in 2013 went the off road route and got frustrated with not being able to go with bigger tires easily due to rear wheel well clearance issues, traded it in for a limited 2015 and concluded I wouldn't really be ever be taking it off roading, so decided to drop it. I like the body clading better than the boring looking Impreza and I beleive if you crunch the numbers it was cheaper to do this then to get an Impreza and try to add the XVs front and rear bumpers and the fender trim and rockers. The XV suspension was also very wonky and not confidence inspiring through the corners now if flys through corners like its on rails. I'm very very happy with it.

The other part is that it's different and I like different cars I don't want to be like everyone else out there who has a dropped modded wrx or sti, this is my 5th Subie and I had the matte gray wrapped LGT that y'all may have seen a few years ago, my 2013 XV was wrapped matte black. I love my Subies especially when they are unique in their own right. For example if love to get my hands on a couple BRATs and build one for off road and one for street use haha

I dig it. Not hating at all, it was an honest question out of curiosity.
To each his own, and being unique definitely works. Personally I would've left a little gap. It looks a little strange almost tucking tire with the black flares. |

The rear sags a bit which seems to be a common thing with Subies my LGT did the same, I tried saggy butt spacers and it didn't really help, ended up going with coilovers to solve it. I'm not going crazy with the XV so I'm good with it. When I have extra cash I may try the spacers to see if it helps, but I have absolutely no rubbing issues what so ever.

It's not suspension sag. The front fenders are cut higher than the rear. It's a design illusion. The suspension should be level.

Looks really nice! Personally I find it funny that now you basically have an impreza, but still it looks great!

It's like people who lower outbacks, they are just legacy with a few changes to body and suspension

Nice!! Wanted to do drop my XV as well! I find it funny when people say that I should've gotten an Impreza. I like the XV's body cladding & certain exterior differences like how the fogs aren't in a black housing. To each their own lol. I'm just not the type to tell a person with a lifted Impreza, "should've gotten a crosstrek"

$17k Base hatchback versus, what, roughly $23k for a Trek? But every time I see this Crosstrek I like it more and more. |

That's not true if you compare base features and trim levels. Personally I like some creature comforts and I would never buy a base Impreza.

At the end of the day, Subaru sells more Crosstreks than they do Imprezas. So that alone says something. |

What feature in the Crosstrek isn't available in some form in the Impreza besides ground clearance?

Yeah I would like that black cladding around my wheel wells. Some type of accent fender flare would be sweet for the impreza.
