Solomon,

Yes.. With the PDM Kit, if you want to run any sort of boost, you'll need any good engine managemet that you can afford. Go for the best one that you can afford. This is the life blood of your engine, plus with good management, you can upgrade turbo's as you upgrade your engine internals with no problems. Just re-tuning.

The PDM kit is not a bad idea for a starting point.

looking at Brullen and Maxim, can I go ahead and get the 3" exhaust now and headers before I get the turbo? If so, where should I take a look and how (or would I need) would I get the "Custom Downpipe"?

note?: forget part of the above...I guess I am asking can I go ahead and get the Brullen 3" Cat-backnow and the rest when I get the turbo pieces?

Solomon - yes you could get the cat-back now, however you won't be able to use it until you have the turbo on the car. As the flange is much too big for the stock cats to fit to.

solomon, afaik the headers off of the older legacy turbos will bolt up of you are looking for turbo headers. rather than a kit you could build your own kit for around a grand. get a used intercooler and turbo from a wrx and have a muffler shop you trust cut and re-weld the y-pipe like an uppipe (with cat before turbo for no cel's). i think that greddy makes an turbo adapter that you can weld in so the turbo will bolt on. then you just need to run the oil line feed and get a fuel pressure riser. depends on how much you want though. 300 whp will require engine internals and alot of funding.

noahr - that will only work w/ a x-member swap. That'd require a water pump swap too. You could also use a WRX exhaust manifold if you're doing this as well.

How hard would it be to mount a front intercooler?

obviously im sure you know this but unless you get an aftermarket bumper with like a open mouth type front air dam you prob wont be able to do it. If you do that though you should be able to do it fairly easily, prob need a lightweight bumper beam from japan(basically useless in a crash at any speed) but allows you to fit a big IC. also, may involve a little cutting to get it to fit, not real sure on a legacy cause i havent done it or read about others doing so im not real sure on that.

another thing is i know that with most kits you have to remove the fog lights for the IC piping so if you like your fogs then you might not want to, also some think it isnt needed unless you are pushing huge numbers, otherwise there is a decrease in throttle response due to the long piping, but i think you said you were going for 300whp right? so that would probably constitute a FMIC

Ben

i am really going off of what other Impreza guys have had to do, and if there is one thing i have learned with owning the legacy, its NEVER assume they are the same, haha, could be easier to do for all i know(but most likely harder), but if anyone has any info or experience with it please correct me or chime in.

No I will be building off of the PDM turbo. Like the post before this one I can go ahead and start picking up parts for the turbo setup then once I have everything go for it. Like I also said prior, I am trying to get some parts that can go before that, so I can get something sooner. If not no sweat. iON, could you please PM and give me a quote on that Brullen Cat-back with the 2 tips in with quite sound?
Thanks.

PHATsuby,
I will be going with this body style

http://www.erebuni.net/ge/subarulegacy.htm
or

so it looks like something is there. On Erebuni I do not understand why there is a hood scoop, and in front of that is a reverse scoop in front of that. Is that for the air coming from the grill go over the engine and out from the hood back into the scoop? I guess that front looking thing could be just the radiator? I have a call into them on Monday on these questions and also about the wheel well.

All trim and fit.
OK….ugh.
Just got off the phone with EREBUNI and that was fun. There is like NO one on the planet (or maybe just in the US), that has this kit. It is based on the B4 wide body that has been fitted to our BE’s. I did find out that yes it is all fiberglass kit and the front/rear bumper supports have to be removed. So on that note fitting a intercooler in the front should be fine sense most kits that take intercoolers these bumper supports have to be taken off. That kit is about $2100.00 and am still waiting to hear back from Hippo. Looking at the Hippo I like the more mellow kit they have over the EREBUNI. I really would like to have that front mount intercooler and my have to go the kit first before the turbo.

Solomon - if you're looking to make some crazy power, check out the following link. Everything that's needed to make over 500hp crank.

Well i almost had that turbo kit./.I was going to get the cash and made a call to my account and was told bad idea to pull out close to 7k while I was trying to refi my house.
I was going to pick it up for around 4k-5k with extras and drive out to pick it up. Then I wanted to have some extra for those unseen needed items, and a tune. At this rate I will have to wait until the first of next year! ugh.
Guess that give me more time to understand all that is needed to build and run a reliable turbo. This also give me a little extra time to get other mods for the engine until then, not that there are many left beside CAI, ECU, and a few others.
