Default ABS recall: Conflict with AP?

I searched, couldn't find a thread open about this already (but I suspect there are several).

I got the ABS recall for a MY02 WRX, it says the fix is a reflash concerning the threshold the ABS engage at (or something, can't remember).

I'm running AP Stage 2, am I ok to go get the reflash?? Or should I be talking to Cobb directly?

Apologies if this is a repost

I'm not certain at all, but I beleive that this reflash is for another control unit that regulates the braking system. I don't think it affects the primary ECU, but I could easily be wrong.

The recall is a replacement abs ecu which is separate from the normal ECU. It will not effect your Cobb reflash.

Can you give us some more info on that fix? Did someone from SOA contacted you or did you go to a dealer and they offered this? I've finally got my ABS to work properly, but that's after full suspension setup, full brake upgrade and better/ bigger rims and tyres.

Notification is by letter and it states it's part of a "customer satisfaction program". I have also heard they will not perform the ecu swap if you have modified brakes. I'm sure some dealers are better than others though.

Has anyone with Cobb AP had this performed? Everyone is saying the ABS ECU is different from main engine mgt ECU, but I have not read a post from anyone who has actually had this done.

Anyone out there?

Thanks,

Paul

Here's the TSB for the abs ecu replacement. It tells you everything you need to know. I have an accesport and I'm having this done on Tuesday (11/01/05)

Thanks Turbo4Life, I printed that off in case my dealer doesn't know about it. From the TSB it's obvious that it's a different unit, so I should be fine leaving my AP programmed to my engine ECU.

Thanks again!

So, tell me, is it worth it or not? I've had my WRX for 110,000, have performance pads, steel lines, synth fluid, and the ABS seems to activate prematurely over bumps and on rough surfaces, but it was always that way even when stock and I'm used to it.

I can't see that I'd get a hassle for my minor brake mods. Should I bother with the upgrade or not?

Opinions?

Cheers,

Sean
