Most definitely, but you pay a huge penalty in drag. I got rid of the wing back when I was still on the stock turbo, and went from 149.7 to 152.8 (3.1mph gain) with no other changes. It would probably knock ~10mph off the speed when approaching 200, but you could overcome that with maybe another 150hp. (just guessing, haven't done the math)

I'm considering heading up to this... If you want to head up let me know. I think there are some others local to us that may go also.

do you have all SS AN'd boost lines? Is that a pressure block on the firewall to the left of the FPR?

run the mile without a filter? and without a cbe?

I didn't realize this car was wingless. Do you feel the rear of the car start to get a little light at high speeds? I know you're going for aerodynamics and understand why you lost the wing...also that you arnt turning at these speeds. Just curious.

As long as you're accelerating, the suspension stays loaded, and everything feels nicely planted. The main difference is under braking the rear does get light, but it's not a problem as long as you stay straight and there isn't a crosswind. Even with the wing, slowing down with a crosswind will keep you busy, but you can feel the back end is lighter without it.

It was actually more of an issue with the stock turbo under acceleration. The vf39 would completely run out of breath before 150mph (stg2+, 165+ indicated), and you'd still have around an 1/8th to go. At that point, it would feel a bit floaty even with the wing.

Dude I don't think I'm gonna bother going through all the little BS the ECTA wants done. Not to mention the cage they want from me will make my car a porker for track duties!!

Maybe I'll make a hike to Texas at some point

Have you done anything to the cooling system to compensate for having the grille blocked off?

Or is the run just short enough to that heat doesn't become an issue?

The cooling system was designed for gasoline. This particular run was on methanol, and we were actually having trouble keeping heat in the motor through the run. Even with the top radiator grill blocked off, engine coolant temp would drop 15*F during the run. It was a learning experience.

OTOH.. Kinda neat when you finish a run, return to the pit, and the intake manifold is cold to the touch.

The time, effort and money I spent on being legal for Maxton and Loring, I could race at Texas for the next year!

Did you build for going 200-249? All the little crap that they require. I'll have to submit and see if 1.75X.095" tubing is ok.
The licensing to go over 200mph looks like it'll take a weekend in and of itself

Not sure that I really want to drop $1500+ in fuel and at least three days off (two for driving 2800 miles round trip and one for Friday) from work just yet. Looking at Texas this way, maybe prepping for Maxton is cheap

I coast a lot. No, it can get 15mpg or so just cruising down the pit road. No back to back runs, though.

No. I think that would be tough to do with just one set of injectors, unless one failed open.

Are there serious limitations on the aero modifications you can make to your car? I could imagine something like a coating to break up the boundary layer being good enough to get you a few more mph at such high speeds.

If her really wanted to go faster, he could simply put on a bigger turbo

A full undertray will actually cut a lot of drag however. Vertical slat covering the leading edge of the tires too...especially the poke by the lower door/rocker panel on the rear.

I simply want to go fast! I honestly don't know how fast my car is (yet). the parachute requirement over 175 is where I stop with the safety stuff. I think if the car has more than 175, I'll go to Texas
