Default 2013 WRX - cut rear deck metal for port?

I'm looking into possibly building a 4th order bandpass enclosure for my 12" sub so i can direct all of the output through an arero port and into the cabin via the rear deck.

however, I'm not sure if the metal under the rear deck provides any structural support to the chassis? would it be okay to cut some of this for a 6-8" areroport to fit? is there a rear strut tower brace that does not sit on or stick up from the trunk floor that can help makeup for cutting some of this metal away?

any help is greatly appreciated, thanks.
