Stock Subaru 2.5L shortblock 1/4 mile record
There's a thread going for the fastest stock 2.0 liter shortblock and that record is a mid 11 second 1/4 mile drag time.
Does Roly still have the best claimed stock shortblock 2.5L Subaru drag time and speed? I don't know if there was any investigation into whether it was actually a stock shortblock or not and I'm not looking to get into that. I want to know if his 10.49 at 129 MPH is the best claimed stock shortblock pass. I'm asking about a totally stock shortblock as it came from Subaru, not stock block (case halves) with upgraded pistons etc., not a stock shortblock that's been rebuilt.

Pretty sure roly driving someone else car has gone 10.4 or quicker with like a 136mph trap on a completely stock engine(no pistons). That pass was proly a year before his pass with a bolt on 30r that your referring too
**EDIT: AFter lots of searching Im pretty sure Ive mistaken. The 2 quick/fasestt times I know for sure are the 2 listed...o2h2o and roly Last edited by Paul; 08-30-2012 at 03:38 AM. |

Link? When I did a search on this I didn't find him going quicker than 10.49 in anyone's car with a stock shortblock.

I've been wanting to see how fast I can go on a stock short block as well, but finding one in good shape is hard to do. Finding one people don't want a ton of money for is even harder.
Didnt George (o2h2o) go 10.7 on a stock motor? |

I made this thread when I tuned my 96 Impreza time attack build on a stock shortblock the other night. It's a totally stock shortblock from Subaru, straight out of a Subaru box, unaltered in any way. Some suspension parts we were supplied were made wrong and we have a way to go designing and making aero bits so I figured I might as well do something with the car in the meantime. Hopefully I'll go to the strip next week. We just have some odds and ends to tie up before then. I'm not willing to do something I feel will break the stock shortblock to break the record so I stopped tuning at 21 psi. I'll be running Toyos, not slicks, so I can't expect a great 60 foot time, and I have a stock 06 STI trans. so I need to use 5 gears, but I'll give the record a shot. Then someone can take more risk and run more power on the stock shortblock, run DOT or full slicks, and bump my time (if I break the record). |

i went 11.2/127 in a with a stock sti clutch and shortblock, full weight no launch control, lots of camber and toe in (road race car), 360 treadware crap tires, just a 30r .82 perrin kit w supporting mods and c16
from what Ive seen, with this small of a turbo on full weight, thats pretty impressive IMO |

Jr, what kind of power/mph do you think the stock bottom end is capable of?
If I could figure out a way to squeeze 135mph out of one, I think I have a realistic shot of getting one into the 9's. |

If it's proven give us a link and some info.
Md05STI I feel I made enough power at 21 psi to trap over 135 mph. We shall see. |

What does your 96 weight though? My car is probably around 3100 or so with me in it, im gonna assume your cars probably a little bit lighter then mine so i will have to make a little more power then you.

Yup I'm lighter, but I'll be leaving my big wing etc. on and camber etc. will be in normal time attack mode. I made 526 wheel HP at 21 psi. I can make more at that boost level, but I left fuel and timing safe and I'd rather turn the boost up a little if I need more jam. We got most of the to do list on the car done today so I should be at the track next Friday.

That thing has to be 22-2300lbs to trap 135mph with 21psi, unless you have a 42r or something big on it |

Jason's drag car weighs more than that and traps 140 at 20-22 psi. I feel I can get within a few tenths of his time at a similar boost level.
I won't be flat shifting and I'll set the 2 step for a mild fuel cut. No antilag. I agree it's not worth risking that stuff on the stock engine. Last edited by Innovative Tuning; 08-31-2012 at 06:41 PM. |

So many different variations I don't see the point. Here you may have one car full weight and then maybe another that's a tin can doing the same.
