Default Repainting window trims

Hey everyone

I'm about to purchase some SEM Trim paint to redo my window trims etc.

Been touching up a lot of things around the vehicle lately including painting some interior bits to colour match, some lips and diffusers and now I'm onto the horrible window trims.

Mine are peeling/have chrome showing and look aweful.

I can't decide between going gloss black or satin black for the trims.

I have 06C (Rose Metallic Pearl) colour for my WRX which has recently been redone so paint job looks mint.

Would gloss black look out of place or nice?

Or would the sleek satin look be more fitting?

I'm planning on doing the A, B and C Pillar exterior trims.

Thanks!

This is a personal preference question. Paint them purple if it makes you happy.

Yeah I just can't find any pictures of gloss ones. Most people do them satin which look really sleek but just wanting to compare.

Also, from factory do you know if they were gloss or satin?

I doubt its that simple. I'm sure with enough research there is a color code out there. I'm going through the same process of having my coupe rear quarter moldings resprayed. I have purchased new moldings for everything else on the car but new oem quarter glass moldings for coupes simply dont exist. I am having a professional body shop color match to the other new oem pieces I purchased. No biggie.

OP: i looked at mine and gets more confusing

-QP glass mldng is definitely satin or matte(now)
however, the mldng above the door is definitely gloss!
the long roof and windshield upper trim both appear to be matte

please note, im looking at 25yr old mldngs(one owner GC8, pretty much garage kept its whole life)
i think the QP glass mldng was gloss but the metal was covered with a 'rubber' coating
think gloss at one time but faded to eventually look matte/satin.

unscooby: i did see some GC QP mldngs on ebay recently, $400(?) they looked rough thou
let me see if i can find that add

now if you blow up those pix of the rough mldngs, you can see where the 'rubber' coating has rubbed completely off in certain places and you can see the metal underneath

i would paint matte/satin IMO
there are specific 'satin rattle can trim paint' that i have used with good results

Thanks for lookin out! I've seen used come up for sale here and there but my dream would be new old stock... not gonna happen. I'm happy having mine refinished. On the plus there are 2 places I've found who are making/selling repop rubber seal kits for teh quarter glass. Now someone needs to make repop door rubber for these 6 foot long doors
