Default Avo 600

i am getting a turbo upgrade.
i have seen good numbers with the greens.
so i decided i want to go bigger than a green to get more off pump gas.
i seen one forum with 450whp, anyone else know what kind of numbers im gonna be looking at,...

also,

is it worth eliminating AVCS for 272 cams

No not without doing some headwork and beefing up the bottom end. Uh...that goes for the turbo and the cams.

That turbo made 450whp on 2 cylinders. It will devistate the stock STi pistons. Broken ring lands here you come.

Back to your question. With supporting mods and proper tuning 500whp will not be a problem. If you haven't already start looking at forged pistons.

I gotta disagree on this. Sponaugle runs that turbo at 26psi. You don't have to do that. I run my SBGT30R-14 (basically the same turbo, its a GT35R, 65lbl compressor) at 20-22psi, and its fine on the stock bottom end. I wouldn't call it uber-reliable, but at 22psi (on pump gas btw) it'll last a LOT longer than at 26psi obviously.

Tune in baby steps, be conservative with your timing and enjoy the boost. And, start saving for better pistons (and a clutch, and better fueling, and.... ) so you can turn the boost up.

For your question on the 272cams - don't do it. You need all the help you can get to spool that thing up, last think you want to do is pull the last little bit of bottom end out from under you for more top end. Those cams are made to run cars to 9000rpm, and with the stock bottom you're not gonna want to push much past 7500rpm. Personally, I have my rev limiter set at 7300rpm soft, 7500rpm hard. Its just not worth it.

500whp will be cake for the turbo, but is the rest of the car up to it?
