Default 2013 spt exhaust hiding

Hey everyone, does anyone else notice how the exhausts on the 2013 wrx and sti are set further back behind the stock bumper? I thought my car had an issue but after seeing other New cars at my local dealer it appears all the cars have shy exhausts.

My thought is that if I can extend the end of the exhaust pipe about two inches the exhaust tips will be flush or slightly past the bumper allowing the exhaust sound to be pushed out from under the car. The way it currently is I feel the exhaust noise gets picked up by the trunk and causes more in cabin noise. Plus if the tips were flush it would look more aggressive. :derp What are your thoughts nasioc?

I agree that the flush w/ valence look is much neater and aesthetically pleasing. However, due to the overall length of the pipe and location of the hangers/bushings, it is HIGHLY unlikely you will be able to get 2" of movement. I don't know much about the SPT exhaust, but if it's anything like the stock exhaust, 1 midpipe, 2 axlebacks, you will have near 0 wiggle room without cutting and welding new pipe somewhere to extend the overall length.

Sorry broski.

Just thought I should post my findings. The way the pipe goes from the differential split y, my thought was to add a spacer. There would be enough wiggle room to move the mufflers about 1" out. But sadly the way the SPT piping goes, it doesn't come out straight. So adding a spacer would simply not allow the exhaust to sti straight but rather it would get pushed sideways and off center. I guess my only other option would be to get another exhaust or cut and extend the tips.

Yea I don't know what your talking about ^^^ cuz my 2013 spt exhaust is great and looks fine. I haven't had any issues and to be honest my car looks better with spt exhaust underneath. Maybe it has been different for you but yea I'm actually getting ready for stage two. Why do you want it out farther or whatever??

Who keeps the stock exhaust anyways? Lol :P No, mine does it too. And I've heard with SWP subies, it can cause the paint to yellow. Good thing it's got a warranty.

What I am thinking the OP is saying is.....The SPT does not stick out as far as say the Q300 or other aftermarket systems. I do agree. I have a 2011 WRX sedan and my SPT is set back further than say most other Cat-backs. I have looked several times from underneath and its just not worth the time and money to mess with the SPT. Either enjoy it for what it is or ditch it and get into a Q300 or equivalent.

Good luck and be safe.

I have the perfect solution and it sounds amazing....Nameless Performance

Hand made axel back systems that arent too expensive...I have the muffler delete and my car sounds a frigging mazing

They also have systems with 4" and 5" mufflers if you think the delete is too loud..Also you have options to flush them with the bumper or not..have the tips staggered or not and also single wall or double wall.

some wizard mechanic at my local dealership told me that build regulations in the US require that exhausts can't extend beyond the bumper or something. I'm not sure why that wouldn't apply to aftermarket, but whatever.

+1 for the namelesss rear muffler delete. My car sounds fantastic, it's not that loud I don't think. No drone, and very tough sounding.

and also bear in mind, you can add a 4" muffler or 5" muffler as part of the it, which would quieten it down a bit.

Ive noticed this too. I was hoping the spt would come out further but oh well. The pipes look bigger/better from the back, but most importantly it sounds much better than stock.
