Awesome day on the East Course!

It was a bit foggy in the morning, leading to some abbreviated (like 3 lap) sessions before lunch. With perfect weather, 6-20min sessions would've been even better!

Anyone happen to get pics of the Solo group on-track...?

How warm was it? Cold temps and the tires i have now dont mix well. Rolling on the throttle in second causes wheel spin at 5k rpm.

1st - 3rd gear full throttle around corners is a recipe for disaster.

It managed to climb to about 70, I'd say. It was warming up before noon, and about perfect afterwards. Yeah, cold tires and a cold track do not mix well. I attempted T3 with something resembling speed after a warm-up lap. Yeah...

Rather than shorten the morning sessions to 3-5 laps at best, I'd rather they skipped the first round of sessions completely or simply combined the TT/Solo groups.

The only reason there were 3 lap sessions in the morning is because the workers thought everyone was running the 3 lap time trial.

Really? I thought it was due to the fog delaying everything.

His name is Clyde and I cringe every time I hear it now.

7th in class with a 59.022. Winner was 04trailsti with a 55.100. I have a copy of the results but it looks......... less than great. My wife is trying to get the timing guy to post them up in a hurry, so hopefully they'll be online soon.

^ Odd, I've never had an issue with Clyde running grid.

Good point! You can literally watch the tire tracks go off-track and become ruts in the dirt and grass right towards the tire walls....

I have a few photos and videos, too:

I was ready to get into a fistfight with him back in July and I KNOW I'm not the only one. He was running an AutoX grid like one might run a road race grid. Front car from line 1, front car from line 2, front car from line 3. I went up and told him "There are 3 lines... two with one driver cars, one with two driver cars. You need to run the 2 drivers, the one of the one drivers, then the two drivers, then the other one driver.... or else we're going to end up out of sequence and the two driver cars are 5 runs behind." He didn't listen, I tried a few times to explain why, he still wouldn't listen, then when we got to the end and he was getting pissy with us because we were spraying our tires, swapping numbers on the car, checking tire pressures, etc..... I got in a shouting match with him and told him that we get at least 5 minutes to spray tires, check pressures, etc and everyone else would just have to wait.

That man is about 90% of the reason I had no desire to go back this time. I get the feeling em99sport had problems with him too.

Sounds like they need training in how to run an SCCA AX grid... I would've had words with him, too, over this, especially after telling him what he needed to do. Someone "over" him should've had a talk with him, too, it sounds like.

I'm not a fan of rolling grids for that reason. Everything will stay in order, if done well, but everybody shifts around, so your stuff is in a slightly different place after each run.

Auto-x grid was run like a proper auto-x grid this time. They really ran a nice event this time with no worker issues with cones or in grid. Let keep the moaning about last time to a minimum since they corrected all the issues they had and ran a fantastic event this time (need we forget the last event was their first time running an autocross).

As for the results they should be up soon and the winner of the $600 tire voucher will be picked shortly from a pool of all of the entrants. I will post up with the winner as soon as it is announced.

Thanks to everyone who came out and made the event a success, we're looking to do these once a quarter now and possible integrate an enduro-kart race at the end of if for those interested. Keep your eyes peeled for more info come spring on the next event! (And I would strongly encourage those with a sour taste in their mouth from last time to give it another go).

Thank you to whoever stickied this thread btw, much appreciated and it was very helpful in getting the word out to the community. Hopefully the attendance numbers will continue to increase so we can keep having these.

That would be awesome as long as the price stays low. Price is the only reason I won't do a turn 1 event.

How many runs did you guys get on the autox course?

I completely agree! I managed to snag the GroupOn deal earlier this year, so Sat/Sun with Turn 1 was ~$180. Damn good instruction, though! Once you're signed off to drive solo with T1, the price is much more affordable.

Many thanks for giving us the opportunity! Had this one not fallen so late in the year, I probably could've gotten some friends to drive the East Course, maybe even a pair of Evos.

Even if I'm not able to attend, I'll promote the crap out of some cheap track time! And if you make this a seasonal thing, even better!

I'd love to see a Sat/Sun again, too.

Also, how did the drawing for the tires go? Was it drawn from everyone once they checked in, or did you have to go register? I never managed to make it to the tent Folger Subaru had set up on the opposite side of the garages.

The drawing will be from all entrants. The Folger's tent was for the Make-A-Wish foundation.

As for auto-x runs everyone saw 8 runs.

Cost should remain constant, the track day was only 125.

And ya the late December event proved interesting, particularly because the local SCCA region usually holds a december charity event and it was cancelled, but that didn't translate into entries for this event for some reason...

Can't explain that one, unless everyone didn't want to drive at a non-points event, assuming the charity AX would've been non-points.

Charity AX is non-points as well.... was run like a Test & Tune last year, in fact.
