Default 2005 Legacy GT Transmission Options

My '05 LGT's transmission has developed an issue where it will grind like there'e a pebble in it in 1st-4th, then in 5th it sounds like there's a handful of gravel in it. My assumption is that it't totally shot, but I'm gonna have a local shop confirm that this week.
In the mean time, assuming I need to replace it, I'd rather use a 6 speed from an STI rather than another 5 speed, if possible. I'm hoping that the dimensions would be nearly identical between the carious models, given that so many Subi motors use at least the same shaped short blocks and motor mounts.
I've already done a short block swap, stage 1 tune, and new wheels, not to mention that I love the car, so selling isn't an option.
Can anyone confirm that an STI 6 speed (US or JDM) would fit in my LGT?

Yes, but you'll need to consider final drive ratios and various small parts. Full info here:
