So in researching this question. My tuner does not change the stock values when it comes to the AVCS.... I am trying to figure out how i can gain some more tourque on the low end... just mainly to help with boost transition. I notice that on my dyno sheets torque begins to rise at a sharper slope in the begining then decreases...which leads me to think that some Avcs tuning is in order. Also thinking of trading with another member for a 1.5xtrTS... but i dont think that decreasing the exhaust wheel is going to make a dramatic change. I think the tubular headers and the larger exhaust housing are defeating my TS gains. Or i might move the the land of denser air and high octane! But still my car is a pleasure to drive!!!

I have a Version 8 swap with a vf37. Has anyone seen this yet? I have a vf34 laying around from a past build I could put this on. Thoughts?

Meh.., for that price I'd go with a Blouch 1.5/2.5 XTR TS.

Driver - I am planning on buying this, probably this week.
About a year ago, when I had completed my V8 swap (using a vf34) I had searched EVERYWHERE for this housing! I thought I had one located but when they shipped it, it turned out to be the wrong part.

I've VERY excited that you found this!

I have a VF34 on my 02 with ej207 and have all the plumbing ready to go, just need to swap exhaust housings.

I did a lot of research and even emailed a few people in Australia to verify that this will work (and to prove my theory!)

I actually did install the vf37 AFTER I couldn't find the vf36 hotside (or entire turbo) and after I had installed the vf34. I was actually very disappointed in it - the spool was not as quick as the vf34, the overall HP/torque felt similar, but spool up was dramatically worse......so I went back the the vf34.

To be fair, I didn't re-tune for the vf37, though my vf34 tune was actually a tune that was initially done for a vf37....

It may have been that the vf37 wasn't up to snuff as well, though I have no reason to believe that it wasn't a good working turbo.

My hope is that if the single scroll vf34 is VERY GOOD, that the twinscroll vf34 (essentially a vf36 sans TiAl shaft) should be even better....right?

We'll see!

You should check out the Kinugawa and KAMAK twin scroll options. Basically nearly the whole range can be done in twin scroll for a 16g to 25g. The biggest turbine section is TD06SL2 though in twinscroll, whereas you can go up to a TD06H in single scroll.

We also sell Blocuh and FP, but our customers have been raving about these turbos.

Check out some of the pictures that our customers have posted. #50 are some hires pics of a twin scroll TD06SL2-20g.
http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...oto=nextnewest

KAMAK turbos come fully upgraded with billet compressor wheel with a new aero design with projected tips and extended height, and their 9-blade STS turbines that are both lighter and have more surface area. They are 30% lighter so they spool faster than the heavier 11 blade turbines.

Recently a few customers went with the TD06SL2-25g. It will be interesting to see their results, but it should produce a ton a mid range.

Does anybody have any experience with the Dom 1.5xtr/2.5xtr with the 3" compressor housing?

I am really leaning towards the 1.5xtr/2.5xtr for my 2.1 ver8 ej207 build but I'm not sure if it would be worth going with a 3" compressor cover or not. I have the long runner intake manifold so no tgv's to worry about. If anybody has any feedback I would love to hear.

I called them a couple weeks ago but it was kind of a rushed conversation and I pretty much forgot most of everything that was said

Also, I am a little confused as to what models are comparable between SC and Blouch. Is the SC46 the same as the 1.5xtr, or is it the same as the 2.5xtr which seems to be gone?

If anybody can help me clear this up it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

-Luke

not sure on the diff between SC and blouch but basically the dom1.5xtr is the variant more suited for a ej20 engine. it has a smaller turbine wheel. the rest is the same between the two turbos. if your going twin scroll then i think the only option is the 1.5xtr. if you got an ewg that helps a ton with our higher reving engines. if your single scroll i would go with a smaller exh housing on the 1.5xtr over the 2.5 because it will spool fast and hold up top. if choking becomes a factor up top then get an ewg and free up all that exh gas.

as far as my exp w/ a 2.5xtr. it spool around 3800rpms on a ej257 engine.

I am going to be going with the twinscroll and when I spoke with blouch they said they could make a twinscroll version of the 2.5 but I'm not positive.

Beings that I'm going to use the twinscroll manifold going with external gates is a bit costly so I'm going to try and avoid it.

It seems like the 1.5xtr is equivalent to the SC42 turbo and the 2.5xtr is equivalent to the SC46. Both of which are offered in twinscroll variants. The SC46 seems to be more popular than the SC42 across the pond for the 2.0/2.1 guys so I still have some thinking to do.

Still unsure if a 3" compressor housing is worth it or not too.

Maybe I'll have to give blouch another call again early next week and ask a few more questions before I order.

Thank you for your response,

-Luke

^ I'm in same boat as you looking for a TS 1.5xtr with 3in inlet. I just have a hard time spend 1850 for the turbo since I could go rotated for about same price once I sold all my parts.

How are the SC turbos priced compared to the Blouch?

Have you looked into the kamak turbos? I like their TS tdo6sl-20g with billets wheels 3in inlet and 10cm exhaust. It's about 500 cheaper than the Blouch

SC turbos are roughly the same price as blouch turbos, seeing as they are made by blouch. I think it would be better to go directly to blouch if you decide to go that route.

Going rotated has definitely crossed my mind more than once as well. I'm not sure how much going rotated would actually cost me though and that is why I'm hesitant to do it. Something like a GTX3076 would be awesome.

I have also looked at kamak/kinugawa turbos and everybody seems to love them. The only thing I don't think they have is a ball bearing CHRA, but I don't know that for sure.

I will more than likely be going with a 1.5/2.5xtr but if I could find an economical rotated solution I would give it some serious thought.

Nobody else can make a DBB Bolt on TS turbo other than Blouch. Every other company says there's not enough meat to do DBB CHRA

Interesting. I wonder what blouch does differently that allows them to do it.

It's their custom housing that allows them to do it.

In your opinion which of the Kamak turbos would have similar power & spool characteristics to either a LM420/SC42 or LM460/SC46 twin scroll?
ps I have sent a more detailed email to you guys through your website yesterday. Many thanks.

I'm curious - what aftermarket turbos would be closest to the VF-36 or VF-37 twin-scroll (and are bolt-in as well), while offering either more power or quicker spool? Forget about cost

OK here is few RR printouts of the Twin scroll turbo:

All results are on EJ207 2.0L or 2.1L

LM450 Billet V-power alone

SC42(Blouch 1.5XT-R) V-power plus 18% meth 1.9bar

SC42 V-power alone 1.45bar boost

SC46 Twin scroll V-power and 20% meth

LM450 Billet V-power and 20% meth

Owen Developments Twin scroll seems is in my winner

The 1.5XTR is supposed to be the SC46. The 2.5XTR came out later and has the 10cm housing I believe.

The 2.5XT-R has come in two sizes 8cm and 10cm housing.

SC46 or UK counterparts ScoobyClinic using 7cm exhaust housing and they're using only standard size of inlet, think only SC50(which is 3.0XT-R) or SC54(4.0XT-R) can have bigger inlet

SC50 is now available as Twin scroll too

Blouch doesn't offer a 2.5XTR though, only the 1.5XTR (least not on the site) which started as a 8cm but now offered as a 10cm as well.

What size turbine/compressor wheel is the SC46? Thought it was the same as 1.5XTR

EDIT: just went back and looked through some things. The SC46 is supposedly 56.5mm which is the same as the 1.5XTR.

Hi there

They're offer 2.5XTR...

As per SC(ScoobyClinic) numbering of their turbo, here is it what I know

16G XTR is SC36
18G XTR is SC38
20G XTR is SC40
1.5XTR is SC42
2.5XTR is SC46
3.0XTR is SC50
4.0XTR is SC54

SC40 is still based on Journal/thrust bearing core,SC42 is as first based on Garrett ball bearing core as 1.5XTR

According to Blouch site they don't offer a 2.5XTR TWINSCROLL. They offer a single scroll 2.5XTR but not a twin scroll version.

I've spoken to Blouch a few times, and according to them (they make the SC turbos), the 1.5XTR is the SC46 but better (they wont say why).

If you look at the specs for the SC46 they are identical to the 1.5XTR twin scroll which has a 56.5mm turbine. The 2.5XTR (single scroll) uses a 60mm turbine (The SC46 does'nt)

Blouch does offer a 3.0XTR Twinscroll

And here is the 1.5XTR
