Exclamation

do a search in this forum for K&N...
i came up w/this quote from a previous thread...
Quote:
33-2075 is for the 99, 33-2154 is the right number for the 2000. You can get them from subaruparts.com fairly inexpensively
hope that helps.

Wink

both K&N and Amisol are great filters...
choice is yours really...
never heard a bad thing about either of them.

i have a K&N...
just a matter of preference.

auricom - Think of it this way, a stock filter from Subaru for the RS costs between $10-$15 every 6K miles, a "performance" filter (i.e. K&N, Amsoil, whatever) costs around $50 but is re-useable. Even if it doesn't give you a performance boost, it will end up saving you money.

Well, the K&N filter is reusable but it requires a special cleaner to clean it and a filter oil to apply to it, that cost about $10 each. Checkout the price quote here: http://www.performanceproducts.com/sub/k&n/default.asp
So its up to you whether you want to gain some performence for $50 or not. And I think this change is the cheapest mod for a HP gain.

For your car, it was a special order filter. Part # S1992, with a wait of 4-6 weeks. However, they have given it a stock production number of TS129, which should make it a 3 or 4 day wait, if they have it in stock. I'm not sure if production has started, or what the pricing is. I can call tomorrow and find out if you'd like. It would probably be in the $40-$45 range.

Opie...I didn't think you were supposed to change the stock filter that often. Is that true?

Auricom -- well, here's my suggestion. If you're low on the dough, just wait a while until it's time to change your stock filter. Since you're forced to change it because it's old and dirty, change it to a K&N/Amsoil/whatever-you-want.

This will give you time to save your money for a more expensive filter, PLUS you get your money's worth out of the stock filter since you've used it for its expected mileage! That's what I did with my filter -- I changed it for a K&N just a few miles before it was to be changed during service.

LaterZ!
Darren!!

Have a Nice Day?

Yeah the 2075 is for the 99s. I orderd one through Autozone and it came as the 2075. Wrong one for my MY00. So back to AutoZone to return and get the other one.

Wow, I was way off, the Subaru websites recomends changing the air filter every 30,000 miles! Not every 6,000 like I assumed.

Sorry!

is there a difference between mys 99, 00, and 01 for the K&N filters? Doesn't seem like I can find an application for a MY01 RS, either on K&N's website or subaruparts.com

The Amsoil TS129 is in production, and the distribution centers now have some in stock. Apparently not too many though. (Wichita only has one, for example). Retail is $47.50. Just FYI.
