All season/ Winter tire
Can someone recommend a good all season/winter tire that is not too expensive. I have a set of summer wheels/tires, but i need something that i can put on the stock rims for fall/winter. Also what size do you recommend? stock width or maybe 225. Also i would love to have searched for my answer but i cant
btw its a 02 2.5rs |

if you are looking for an inexpensive option there are quite a few to choosse from
Kumho Ecsta ASX Sumitomo HTR+ Continental Extreme Contact are probably the top three but, I really like the Dunlop Sport 5000 and P-Zero Nero M&S better |

I looked at all 3 and i think Sumitomo HTR+ is what i'm looking for, they're at 59 dollars wich is a lot less then the other ones....does that mean they're really crappy? Would they last me more than 1 winter? (i drive almost 30k a year)

I have the Sumitomo HTR+ on my current car and on my previous car, and I like them a lot. They seem to get pretty good wear on them too.

Dont get the Continental Contact Extreme, unless you get a lot of snow.
Those tires totally suck in the dry/wet. They look good for snow though. The Pirelli Pzero Nero M+S tires have great reviews so do the Michelin Pilot Sports A/S. |

Dry traction is also much improved over stock and they handled all the snow I could throw at them. Now they don't handle as well in the dry as my Falken Azenis but hey they are a different class of tires. |

Love the Nero M&S's. Great tire, works well in all weather, including snow*. Pilot sports are nice except a little more frightening in the snow.
*Driving reasonably |

Just got the Bridgestone Turanza LS-Vs for the wagon...here in the middle of South Florida's rainy season with torrential downpours EVERYDAY, these tires handle extremely well...also in the dry...here is TRs page on them

That's good. I recently bought some Conti's for my Evo. They don't come close to the stock tires in regards to dry traction but I look forward to testing them in all conditions.

The Contis stink... try some real summer performance tires and you will realize how awful the Contis really are on both wet/dry.
I've never been able to break loose the Bridgestone SO1s but on my first try, the Contis started sliding around and had little grip when going fast around a corner. Really poor performance . . . Summer tires are better on both dry and wet than all-seasons. But all-seasons have longer thread life and can run in the snow somewhat. |

Falken Zeix 512's. Great performance all-season tire with good winter traction

Oh yea, the Contis squeal like a pig when going fast around the corners. Then they break loose. Crappo...

If you get better tires, your results would've been better.

I'd suggest Nokian WRs. They are a great all around tire plus they have a snow rating. I have them as my winter tires and love them. They aren't squishy or fast wearing like a true snow tire.
