Cruise Control Trick?
hi all,
I have a 99 impreza l wagon 2.2l. sadly, it did not come stock with cruise control. So far I have been able to buy everything I need for it except an automatic cruise ecu. When I bought my actuator the fellow I got it from sent me his manual ecu as well. My question is whether or not there is a huge difference between the two ecu's; and if there is not, can I "trick" the manual ecu to work on my automatic? I've done a lot of research on it and the wiring diagrams I've seen only show one wire dedicated for the clutch switch. Thanks in advance guys. moved from the Electric section!

You don't need to switch ECU's. There's a guy selling all the stuff for about $200 on another thread (or forum, can't remember).
I installed all the stuff on my '99 as well. Parts list: The dash switch (near the fog light switch) The steering wheel switch (had to cut a small hole - you'll see where it needs to go) The cruise control brain box (near the drivers side footwell to the left of the hood release The under hood stuff (cable, vacuum thingy) Pedal switch. Presto, you now have cruise. I did it all with a Forester I found in the junk yard. Cost me about $40 in parts and haven't had a problem. Factory install FTW! EDIT - FOUND THE THREAD http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=1681315 Good pictures of all the stuff you need. |

haha
Looks like you saw my wanted post hahaha
I 've been able to get everything i need for the setup BUT the auto cruise module. It seems like nobody wants to get rid of them. Thats why I'm trying to see if there is a way to make the manual module work on my auto Thanks for the help though, I do appreciate it. You said you got all the stuff you needed from a forester? Don't they use a different system for cruise control? I actually bought the get up from a legacy (module, actuator, vac pump) but they deff didn't work. All my stuff came from a '99 Forester. It had an automatic transmission just like my IOB. Works perfect!
My car also has the 2.5RS motor for motivation. |
