I recently bought an 07 2.5i. I am thinking about upgrading the suspension. As far as parts are concerned I am clueless. I need someone to point me in the right direction, any suggestions?

I know it's no doubt been answered before but I've spent time looking and not seen any definitive answers, in fact I've heard contradicting things :/
To my understanding the boxer rumble is caused by uneven headers and the exhaust is just changing the note/volume..? I have a MY 02 bugeye RX (actually built in 00) Do I have unequal headers? I'm pretty sure I don't but I'm not entirely sure what's going on under there. Can anyone tell me what I've got going on down there and what I can do to achieve such an attractive note? EDIT: a few more questions I figure I'll ask seeing as I've already made an ass of myself, why not dig further? Turbo Exhausts/Manifolds/Headers, what exactly differs from regular headers? I would assume size to accommodate for the extra airflow but is that it? Are they shaped differently to make room for the turbo in the engine bay? Obviously the points they connect on the engine block (is that where headers even connect? haha oh god, don't worry, I'll google that in a second) are the same turbo or non turbo but would a non turbo header/manifold meet up with a turbo exhaust or do they connect at different points? I imagine buying turbo parts that still fit will drain power but.. I'm not 100% sure seeing as there are arguments both for and against damn near everything. Hell, it turns out pod filters tend to drain power even in the best case scenarios which many people will argue against even though it's been proven Last edited by Flat Face; 02-25-2013 at 04:58 PM. |

I think Subaru used an unequal length manifold on all their cars except the F6s until 06. your car should have an UEL manifold. the difference between headers and manifolds is headers are tubular and manifolds are usually cast iron. as for exhaust, the factory cats on all of our cars, turbo and non-turbo, are the biggest restriction. people say a 3 inch cat-back on a non-turbo car will hurt performance when it really won't. backpressure is a myth, if your car needs backpressure to perform it has a major design flaw. |

is there any way for me to double check the manifold/headers? looking quickly at them doesn't really give much of an indication that I noticed.
Sorry for being such a beginner and asking as many questions as I am, I've just seen enough imprezas around here with 20" chrome rims, 4" springs and a fart cannon that sounds like it's a honda.. so I'm quite hesitant to just grab an exhaust when I can afford it to only have the ol fart cannon sound also what is the difference between the turbo n non turbo exhausts n headers? I looked into it for a while but didn't find any answers |

2013 Crosstrek Exhaust System
Hey guys,
Any incite how I can get an aftermarket Bolt-On exhaust for my Crosstrek? Will a bolt on for a 2013 Impreza N/A fit onto the Crosstrek? Thanks, Kevin |

more somewhat dumbass questions by me to try and come to a conclusion
I spent more time looking into it, went out and figured out I've got equal headers (I'm 90% sure, before I wasn't sure what to check because my knowledge before hand was of old cars, the extractors come out the side of the block and thought the intake manifold was the header.. I hate learning things and realising I was waaaay off anyway, now I'm trying to figure out what headers fit my car, what I should get at first and the difference between turbo/NA headers. 1, I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure the turbo header comes out the bottom of the block, goes up to the turbo, out the back then down and back through the exhaust which is why turbo headers don't fit NA cars which makes sense, however I've come across headers that say they fit WRX and RS models....? 2, I want to upgrade to a UEL header for the mean time and worry about upgrading the rest of the exhaust at a later date to save on money and get the rumble asap but would that be possible? I'm worried the connection would be smaller on the stock exhaust meaning if I get a header that fits now, I'd need to change it again when doing the rest of the exhaust? 3, I own a My 02 Bugeye RX (built in 00) but I can't search for RX parts without things assume I'm looking for WRX parts, so is the exhaust the same as on an RS on the RX? I'm thinking the RX was only sold in certain areas because a lot of sites don't even list the RX of impreza as a model to search for. Again sorry for all the dumbass questions, when I'm 100% on things I'll whip up some 3D models with some text to explain what I was confused about and whoever can add it to the first page or just reference them for anyone else confused in the future. Hopefully that way answering my annoying questions isn't too fruitless for you guys |

But if you have to choose between RS and WRX, go with RS. |

That's what I thought, I'm just confused by the ones that said they fit both WRX and RS? O_O
EDIT: I guess I'll chalk that up to an ebay seller not knowing the product? :P bit more research, these ones seem like they're what I'd need, they're for the 2.5 but apparently they'll still fit and look like they connect at the right points http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/STAINLESS...item27c4abed48 but on a forum page I read something about borla replicas cracking and as a result the person should buy these instead http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/300664174...84.m1438.l2649 which I would assume to just be a difference in quality and $100 but the exhaust connection looks to be on the other side of the gear box..? am I missing something or did the person just suggest the wrong headers? For a quiet axleback on a 04 rs whats the best option? Everyone says go Stromung but in Virginia exhaust laws suck. My 04 rs came with a dc setup on it and on my first day of driving it I got a ticket. I am eyeballing the turboxs, stock sti, or spt axlebacks.

Just do spt.
I have a stromung type xa axleback in my 04 RS and it's very noticeable that its not stock. I've heard the dual tip is a bit quiter but if you're really that worried about it do the spt |

I have 07 2.5i, I have a sti stock axleback installed, the sound has an ok humm especially when I'm riding at low rpm and MPH. Bt I kinda of want to change out exhausts for a bit deeper more mainly sounding one. Does anyone have any suggestions on one that I could possibly change out for? Would really appreciate responses.. thanks.

It's everything in front of the axle back that is restricting the sound too. That's what I notice. I had UEL, a CAT and a straight pipe and it sounded better with my WRX axle back. Just depends on what you're looking for.

I got UELs for about $250, covered it with high temp paint, wrap and silicon coating to fight against rust and have had no issues at all. Best way to get away from Honda.
