is the stromung axleback a direct fit for 2.5i?
or do you need to buy the midpipe too? i just got the axleback in the mail and the flanges don't match up, the holes are off. i just wanna make sure they didn't mess up and make it wrong or something.

call up who you bought it from and see, they are design for stock midpipes so maybe you got one with a manufacturing defect
worth a shot at least |

You bought something for pre 06. Nothing Stromung can do about that.

probably. i didnt order it, someone else ordered it and had it shipped to my house (kind of a long story). i'll probably just go to meineke tomorrow and have them weld a new flange on my midpipe that fits.

Ha if you pay for a crappy muffler shop to chop up a exhaust piece like that you are nuts... depending how bad it is get a drill out and start makin the hole bigger
Or as i said call where you got it from explain the situation, its not like you used it im sure they would u nderstand and do a trade |

lets put it this way if i had a 200dollar junker beater i wouldnt let meineke work on it, theres a reason these people work there ha their work blows
and all it wil do is just weaken that piece of exhaust you have with their shoddy welds you can do as you wish its your stuff im just saying, if the wrong one was sent just deal with them, or sell it and buy new from boxer4racing |

No, things changed in 06 (I'm not 100% on what changed since I don't have one). This is the reason you must do a full pre 06 headerback in order to run the Borla's, or any header for that matter, on the 06-07.

^ TMK they changed the everything on the exhaust to make it completely different from previous years RS's. They did happened to change the axleback portion of the exhaust to be the same as all wrx and sti's now. That is why you can use a stock STi axleback on your Stock midpipe as a direct fit.
I should know since I have done it |

The holes are different, you have to do a full header back swap just as the guy a few posts back said... i ran into the same problem when i swapped my exhaust, its just has to be swapped in its entirty if you are not willing to cut up the pipes.

meineke rotated the flange and stretched the holes for $85 and the welds are very thick and clean. very happy with the work they did and i am IN LOVE with this axleback.

thats funny, i just picked up a stromung axleback from a guy on the fourms, it mounted right up to my wagon perfectly i love it, it looks so much better than that little pea shooter that came on the car. it sounds better to. i cant wait to get headers, and a high flow to let more of that sound out.

Stromung FTMFW! I've got the axleback and 2.5i specific midpipe. Pretty loud without a resonator, but I love it.
