Default Overreacting to recent body work?

I just got my car back from having body work done to the rear of the car. To make a long story short 5mph + trailer tongue = bent frame etc...

I am very unhappy with the results but Id like some opinions about them before I head back to the shop tomorrow to complain.

First up, my bumper isnt even properly secured. It is missing all the lower clips that hold it down and the 2 clips in each fender well that hold it on.

Second, There is over spray on my rear window trim and my lovely right rear JDM Pink spring and strut are silver...not to mention silver paint on my tire. Am I asking to much for there to be now overspray? Shouldnt steps be taken to prevent nearby parts from getting hit with unwanted paint?

The bumper to fender gap is horrible and inconsistent side to side:
Driver Side

Passenger Side

Now this may not seem all to bad if you dont nit pick and dont expect perfection, but I feel for the price paid the job should be done right. What really puts me over the edge was found during a little inspection I did:

Thats right. A metal screw is now holding my bumper on and keeping it from buldging because it does not fit right. It is hidden behind the trunk liner on the inside and the head is hidden on the outside by the passenger tail light. As you can see they had to drill it a couple times to get it to "fit." This can either be from a careless repair and things are not lining up or the bumper cover itself is of poor quality. Is this acceptable? To me it isnt but that may be standar practice to use metal screws to hold on plastic parts.

So among other things, such as what Ive just shown, my interior being filty with foot prints on the backs of the seats and the rear seat, the 3rd brake light not working, the license plate lights dangling behind the bumper, and the paint chipping off a freshly painted fuel door(pictures do not show it well) I think I am pretty justified in being pissed off.

Any thoughts?

That's horrible, and every problem you've shown is their fault. I had a front fender and bumper replaced, and I brought it back 3 times because I made them correct simple things like overspray, soft clearcoat that smudged, and scratch they left on the plastic doorcard. If you paid a decent amount, or if insurance did, you should definitely get it redone. Use of the screw is borderline the shoddiest thing I've ever heard. Sorry dude...

If you paid $500 for some backyard mechanic to repair it under the radar for insurance it looks great!

Otherwise go back.

OMG, dude. After my last car got hit the body shop made it look darn near as good as new when they were through. That's terrible.

Did you go through your insurance? If so, contact them and have them inspect the work, then go elsewhere to repair it correctly.

This is becoming all to common these days...because of this type of work my car too is no longer even close to being what it was 2 years ago...I feel for you man...but this is totally unacceptable..goodluck but I'd take it somewhere else at there expense. I have been in this boat 3 times and still not resolved so I really do feel for you.

+1000. The bumper to fender gap actually looks fine, but that's because they used a wood screw to hold it in place. If you paid out of pocket, get your money back and take it somewhere reputable, or if the insurance company paid for it, raise hell with them.

I really depends on where you took the car for the work and how much they charged you. If this was a cheap job at a crappy shop then you're overreacting...

Went through insurance. Estimate was quite a lot of money but I only had to pay the deductible. I have been to this shop in the past and my family always goes to them and the work is usually good. Ill be going back tomorrow, picked this up friday night in the dark and Saturday afternoon I was at work and went to look at the car and was horrified. Got home after the shop closed and was furious at what I found.

Here are the interior shots:

No third brake light:

And one of the lights that is supposed to be mounted above the rear plate. I only show one because I can not find the other.

For got to mention they left my gas cap untethered:

This is all the damage I have found except the flaking fuel door because it doesnt show up in pictures. I want to take it to another shop and hear what they say about it but Im going to talk to the original shop first.

Just taking it one step at a time. Have not had contact with the shop as their were closed when I discovered this damage on Saturday. Will wait and see what happens Monday morning.

around here that would be a 'good' job lol

but seriously, i'd be pissed...i pray that if crack up my car, it is totalled- because i sure as hell don't want it back after going into ANY body shop within 100+ miles of here...i had the 'best' shop in town do some work on previous cars and i was less than satisfied to say the least...i'm beginning to think that 90% of people that work on cars are hacks and i'm afraid to let anyone touch my car anymore...well that started at age 16, since i had 6+ years of mechanical experience rebuilding mx bikes and carried it over to cars

edit: jesus christ, i can't believe the footprints! what a bunch of retards

Take it back so they can finish the job. Were they being rushed in any way?

The screw is kind of lame, regardless.

Holy Shiet! That is horrible. The multiple drilling and the screw is horrific. Take it back to them in a calm matter and see what they will do to fix it before raising hell. Good Luck!

Nope. Dropped off on a Wednesday. I called once on Monday to ask about what I should do with the insurance check, deposit or sign over to them. Then I called the day before Thanksgiving just for a status update as I had not heard from them. I was told parts were on the way and I should have it for Friday or next week. So 2 calls from me in the week and a half they had the car, wouldnt really call that a rush.
