Despite having read all the negative comments here about the new kyb excel g struts I found a deal on amazon from just suspension.com for $216 shipped For all 4 struts. I could not pass on. I have a 2002 wrx wagon, 05 STI sedan take off rear springs and top hats, usdm pink front springs. It's my daily driver. I drive in New York, our roads aren't always in the best condition. I'm a 48 year old guy, I won't track nor auto cross, just daily street driving. After a week of 40 mile daily use I must write a review here to let others know that the excel g is a perfectly good compromise. I have koni sport inserts and usdm wagon pinks on my 05 wrx wag, the excel g is no koni but pretty darn nice and damn cheap. They ride smooth and absorb everything while maintaining total composure. The car drives perfectly over rough pavement and inspire confidence. They also help keep the car flatter feeling on turns and feel much better than I ever expected. I can't speak for their durability, I've only driven on them for a week. I'll be happy with 70,000 miles, I know my springs are going to give the excel g a workout. We shall see what happens but take all the negative stuff about the excel g with a grain of salt. It is a perfectly good working strut for a daily driver if you are looking for a sportier ride than just lowering springs on stock struts. At $54 per strut even sedan guys on a budget should rejoice. I'm happy with my compromise, turned out to be much less a compromise I had anticipated. Sedan guys can buy the 04/07 wagon application, is the cheapest option and get all the additional negative camber from the front wagon struts. Just saying.

Haven't driven my bugeye wagon all week, I'll write a review once I have a few thousand miles on the excel g. Here is what I cant tell you as of today, they are much better than they get credit for.
Been driving my saabaru, have koni sport on this one, running them on the softer side at the moment. Outside of adjustability and the fact that they have proven reliable at a little over 70,000 miles they don't really keep the car on the road any better. I do have the ability to firm them up, I do at times when I'm in the mood for it.
The excel g factory dampening setup isn't too much firmer than my preferred setting for most of the time driving on my koni sport.
I'm quite pleased with my excel g purchase at the moment, we shall see.

Hey D, how is everything... I thought the SN looked familiar. I sold you the Cobb AP awhile back.

I have the same set-up... but with STI takeoffs all around and Grp-N mounts on 16" wheels. Little bouncy but good DD. Not so harsh for the little baby... I think she falls asleep better because of the bounciness..

Hey man, all good. No more accessport, I'm running an ej207 on a Jdm ecu, tuned on open source :-)

Excel G's are broken in, they ride smooth and dampen well. I really have no complaints. Can't believe they only cost $218 for the full set, shipped to my door. Perfect for the daily driver on springs, I won't do sway bars on this car. I think springs and sway bars would be way too much on excel G.

Have well over 1 1/2 years of use on the same exact setup as initially installed. The Excel G's are still working properly, I'm completely satisfied with their performance and durability. It's hard to believe they cost so little money.

what springs are you running with the excel-g's? i have older gr-2s on my bugeye wagon and looking to upgrade as they are getting old. im quite satisfied with KYB so was going to go with the excel-g but would like to know a good spring that doesnt lower the car much (maybe half an inch drop max) or cause saggy butt.

Default KYB Excel G wagon

Rear springs are 2005 STi take off with 8mm saggy butt spacers.
Front springs are usdm pink.
If you can find a good set of STi take off springs it would be a perfect setup for you.
