Question STi RA 5 speed speedometer gear part number

Hello. I need the speedo gear for my STi 5 speed (V4 STi RA). The dealership swaped cases with my 2002 WRX and left teh OEM speedo gear in, so now I am going 100+ MPH when I am actually going 80MPH. IIRC, the gear is the same one used for the STi RA gearsets Rallispec sells. I know that the gear Rallispec uses is special made and I will try and get one there. If you happen to know the Subaru part number for the gear, please let me know. Thank you.

There is a converter speedo cable that eastcoastscooby sells. I have one and it works great. I think that might work for you. The ra gear is suoer high I got one from Rallispec and it was 170.00 !!!

The problem is that using the stock WRX speedo gear in this case- the gear will get eaten up within about a month or 2...

I have gone through 3 gears, 2 nylon and 1 ra. I have the PPG dogbox. Andrew at Hillsmuth got with PPG and it seems there is a old style and new style gear. He had PPG make the one for the dogbox it is bronze I think and so far no problems. Breaking speedo gears with an ra motor is a real bummer since it puts the car in a limp mode. My avcs stopped working, my fans ran all the time, and my car would not rev past 4500 until I crossed over into the UTEC. Check with Andrew at Hillsmuth 301-774-0705 or here @ andrewtech.

Well, spoke with the tech at the dealership and he tried to tell me that the WRX speedometer gear is no different than the one that was in the old tranny case - I tried to explain him as to the difference, but it looks like I will have to have the dealership call Dave at Rallispec so he can break it all down for them.

I think you can only get one from Rallispec for 175. I have been running the stock speedo gear for 3500 miles now and no problems yet. knock on wood

The speedo gear that they have made ($125) is for the 3.90, not my 4.44. I spoke to Dave about it and he is looking into ordering me the OEM part from SOJ.
