Default First oil change?

We purchased a new 2013 legacy (manufactured 12-12) with 300 miles on the odometer. Most of those miles were added when the car was driven from a dealer 200 miles away. Since the oil is 10 months in service, should I change it now or wait until the 3750 mile change? That will be another 6 months with our usage. Thank you.

Not sure of exactly how long oil is good for once in the car, but I have always followed 3000 miles or 6 months, whichever came first. Really don't care what the manual says I can do, I am not leaving oil in my engine for 7500 miles.

Wow. 3000m. Are you using non synthetic?

3000 is for conventional oil. 3000 came out back when conventional oil was popular. That is what we call out of date information.

Its 2013 now and we have synthetic oil. I would recommend 5000 to 7000 miles, depend on where you live (outside forces).

As Notch 8 said, I would follow the Owner's Manual guidance.

As long as your wallet doesn't mind the arbitrarily abbreviated oil change intervals, you can change the oil as often as you like. Seems like a waste, though.
