Default 13.9 STOCK Exhaust, MBC + K&N (long)

Well I went to Great Lakes Dragawy last night despite the threat of rain. It was a cool (low 60’s) clear night just about perfect for racing. I got in a total of 7 runs before I headed home. I ran with a TurboXS HP MBC set at 16-16.5psi and I have a K&N filter (I did 1 run stock without the MBC) EVERYTHING else was stock, I didn’t pull the muffler, I have not done the AirBox mod, ½ a tank of 93 gas, spare, jack 10” sub in trunk with amp and all my normal crap in the car.

I also took along my G-Tech Pro and used it on all but the stock run as a comparison; I recorded the G-Tech times on the time slips. They where fairly accurate times between 0.02-0.2 sec slower but the speed was 3-6mph faster.

Below is what I ran :-

1st 14.121 @ 95.92mph 60’ in 2.028
2nd 14.179 @ 95.78mph 60’ in 2.053
3rd 14.832 @ 93.09mph 60’ in 2.208 (I missed 3rd gear bad) L
4th 14.471 @ 93.39mph 60’ in 2.048 (missed 3rd again !)
5th 14.424 @ 93.43mph 60’ in 2.019 (STOCK RUN WITHOUT MBC)
6th 14.027 @ 96.34mph 60’ in 1.969
7th 13.972 @ 96.29mph 60’ in 1.925

Below are 2 time slips the stock one and the 13.972 my car is #403

SWEET!
good reaction and great 60' time... thats how its done!!

i went to the strip on monday afternoon with some friends. i have the same set-up as you.
my best run was:
R/T - .808
60' - 1.994
14.264
95.39

i had some better reactions, but bogged a bit and blew my 60'.
one thing i was working with was shifting... did you bounce off the rev limiter in third or did you shift into 4th? i tried a few runs shifting @ 6500 and finishing in 4th... but the times werent faster. what did you do?

Bob
oh yea, after reading that post last week... i was thinking about pulling the muffler

I shifted at the redline (or as close as I dared to 7300) in 1st & 2nd. I had to shift into 4th or I would have hit the 7300 limit way before the line, I ended up shifting at 6500-6750 from 3rd to 4th after trying a few 7k shifts. I launched at 4.5k-5k by lifting my foot straight up from the clutch with a little slip. Best 60' was with about 0.25s wheel spin, kinda like a good chirp from the tires then GRIP.

thanks ..

Nice times man,
With that setup and some killer 60's (1.871) i ran [email protected] Took off the muffler and ran [email protected] (1.851)missing 4th. Im going up tonight to see if i can make a clean run without screwing up.

All i can give you for advice is practise practise practise. I couldnt run better than [email protected] stock the first few nights. Managed a [email protected] best after a few more nights of racing. With your mph there deffinatly some 13.8's in your car. Wait for a cold night and drive the car like you hate it. You might even click off a 13.7 with the right 60'. I wouldnt be suprised.

If nothing else taking the muffler off makes the car sound great
Takes about 5 minutes. Well worth it. Its heavy as hell too. Then your talkin 13.7 or better.

If you want to go faster and dont want to spend anymore money. I highly reccommend it.

Why buy a catback when no catback works better (for racing)

Thumbs up

Good job. I ran the same times with the same mods. 13's feel good huh?

It's good to some some consistancy among models, unlike some cars that have huge power variations. How many miles were on your car (I hade about 1300). The times will get better and better untill about 10-15K miles (not by any big margin).

sadly i only managed a [email protected] with a 1.891 60ft here in Tampa.. in 90+ weather and lots of humidity with 16Psi and ice on the intercooler..

i had never reset my ECU and the car was retarding timing likea bitch..i shall have to go again soon to see what I can get now.. wait for a cooler day though.. heat kills my cars performance..

oh..i have Greddy profec B - K&N - Silencer off - GFB Hybrid BOV .. running 16 psi..

the car is faster than that.. but driver and weather need to be better.
