There is no "Subaru FP16G" The 16G is a mitsubishi turbo just like the EVOIII. FP is just "forced performance" which is a company who sells turbos. It has a 35lb/min compressor wheel. The EVOIII-16G is the same turbo, but with a 39lb/min wheel. And it makes a good bit more power. Many consider it the ultimate street turbo for a 2.0L wrx. All "EVOIII" means is that it has the 39lb/min compressor wheel from an EVO III in it. Its a normal 16G otherwise. Neither are a subaru turbo. Subaru doesnt make turbos, IN FACT, your TD04, is a mitsubishi turbo.

Yes, those will fit. You're basically looking for housings that are designed to fit for a subaru, with some combination of mitsubishi wheels inside. The Blouch turbo you listed is exactly that- housings designed to fit a subaru, with a 16g compressor wheel originally designed for the EvoIII stuffed inside.
As to which is better, the Forced Performance turbo is a regular 16g, which won't flow quite as much air, and won't make quite as much power. Besides that, Blouch is absolutely top of the line in my opinion(and many others). Forced Performance has skimped on some things in the past, and I can't recommend them. If you wanted a regular 16g, the Blouch version is only $50 more than the FP, and you could rest easy that you had the best, assembled with the best parts. OK let me clarify.
ANY 16-18-20G is a mitsubishi turbo. FP is merely calling the subaru fitment MITSUBISHI turbos, "Subaru FP 16G/18/20G" Is that a bit more clear? I should have explained that in the first reply |

BTW, skip the "Big" 16G Its a 16G with a 37lb/min wheel.
It makes very little as far as gains over a normal 16G, and spools later than a normal 16G The EVOIII-16G uses the 39lb/min wheel, makes a good bit more power than the normal 16G (or the "big" 16G) and spools pretty much the same. And although I dont sell Blouch, I will tell you that Blouch is a 50X better turbo. |

Honestly, the EVOIII-16G is known as the "ultimate street turbo for a 2.0L" for a reason.
Because it kicks so much ass on the 2.0L |

If the turbo is built with an internal wastegate its not necessary, I believe all 16g with Subaru fitament have internal wastegates..... EWG is a good mod to do on any turbo if you have the funds, not necessary though...

With the right tune you SHOULD be ok. Any time you go to a larger than stock turbo, reliability becomes relative. Not saying it makes your motor a ticking bomb, but obviously it changes things.
Here is something to think about. Add up what you are spending here. Add up what you have spent before Then realize that getting pistons put into your motor will only run you about 1200 bucks and cost you a couple days downtime, and you should be able to rent a car for those days for under $100. Then you dont have to worry about it anymore. Its not so unreasonable. If you are that worried about it, just do pistons and move on. Its not nearly as big of a deal as most people think. Its not a multi thousand dollar job thing. |

You never HAVE to go front mount. Its just a better option for some setups.
You have a 2007 which has a 2.5L. The obvious and most common upgrade for these WRXs is a used VF39 or VF43 from an STI. Unfortunately while the EVOIII-16G is amazing on the 2.0L, its just not great on a 2.5L. The reason is the small compressor housing. This is the same reason why the $700-800 18Gs dont perform well on the 2.5L either. Whereas the 18Gs with the larger compressor housing (like the Blouch and older Greddy) work AMAZINGLY well. For street, day to day, incredible low end power and a powerband that doesnt fall on its face at 5000rpm, the Blouch TD05-18G 8cm is in my opinion the ultimate street turbo for a 2.5L Subbie. More low end than a VF39, and a far wider/smoother powerband. You dont HAVE to use Blouch, but just be sure whoever you get it from uses the large compressor housing. Anyone who tells you it doesnt make a difference, flat out, is lieing to you in an effort to sell you what they have in stock, or to sell you a higher profit margin turbo. Either way, find someone else to buy from in that case. Unfortunately, I dont sell them Buy direct from Blouch if you go with Blouch. |

I dont mean to hijack the thread but I've also been looking intensely at getting a evoIII16g. So for my application 03 wrx. I would need a 255 fuel pump, atleast a 550cc injectors and a front mount? Is that correct?
And about what kind of whp should I be expecting out of a evoIII16g? Can my transmission also hold these power levels without blowing on me? |

You can use either a FMIC or TMIC for that application. Results will vary obviously, and so will prices. IF you stay with a TMIC I would consider a high quality TMIC not ebay or STI (even tho the STI is nice there is better options available)....Your FP and Injector selection should be ok, when it comes to injectors I recommend talking to your tuner because injector tuning varies and they may prefer one brand over another... Horsepower will vary depending on dyno, I'd imagine 240-270 awhp....The power band will be much better then the stock turbo, something that must be experienced to appreciate.... As long as you drive with common sense and dont bang every gear it should be ok. |
