Cool FRS on top gear

Just to give ppl a heads up I just downloaded the Top Gear special "worlds worst car 2012" and there is a nice five minute track session of the new FRS with some good sliding around. You can find it on YouTube I am sure but I downloaded the torrent off of pirate bay.

They should view the whole episode just to watch the Lexus LFA that precedes it.

Hmmm. Interesting he didn't drive the "Subaru". He seems to hate Subaru. Wonder if he'd say the same thing.

Are they selling BRZs in Europe? And why is this on a show titled...World's Worst Cars 2012?

Yes, they have EDM BRZs.

If you watch the special episode, it's about what a company is capable of making. At their grandest and most current state, they can make however many phenomenal cars. At their lowest, however, they have examples of cars that have absolutely NO excuse for existing based on that company's track record.

It's also just a showcase for driving REALLY nice cars!

Yeah they went from the LFA to the FRS to the nasty Lexus hard top convertible and that was what they chose as the worste car in history. Haha

Seriously? No, he just really likes Americana and Clarkson makes fun of him for being a secret American.

I am not completely sure that was his house the show is very scripted and they probably just picked a house to use with a gate to make him seem even more pompous. I doubt you would have lion statues with your own face on them haha

Really? Where did you hear?

I honestly can't imagine him driving one outside of necessity for the show.

Cars

[edit]Ownership
Clarkson owns or has owned:
Volvo XC90[78]
Range Rover TDV8 Vogue SE[79]
Lotus Elise 111S[80]
Mercedes-Benz 600 Grosser[81]
Mercedes CLK63 AMG Black[82]
Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster[82]
BMW M3 CSL[82]
Honda CR-X[82]
G-Wiz[82]
Reliant Robin[82]
Ferrari F355[82]
2 Ford GTs[83]
Aston Martin Virage[82]
Lamborghini Gallardo[82]
Volkswagen Scirocco 1[84]
Volkswagen Scirocco 2[84]
Ford Escort RS Cosworth[85]
In addition to the many cars he has owned, as a motoring journalist, Clarkson regularly has car companies deliver a choice of cars to his driveway for testing.
Clarkson wanted to purchase the Ford GT after admiring its inspiration, the Ford GT40 race cars of the 1960s. Clarkson was able to secure a place on the shortlist for the few cars that would be imported to Britain to official customers, only through knowing Ford's head of PR through a previous job. After waiting years and facing an increased price, he found many technical problems with the car. After "the most miserable month's motoring possible," he returned it to Ford for a full refund. After a short period, including asking Top Gear fans for advice over the Internet, he bought back his GT. He called it "the most unreliable car ever made", owing to never being able to complete a return journey with it.[83] In 2006 Clarkson ordered a Gallardo Spyder and sold the Ford GT to make way for it. In August 2008 he sold the Gallardo because "idiots in Peugeots kept trying to race [him] in it" [Jeremy Clarkson – "The Italian Job" DVD]. In October, he also announced that he had sold his Volvo XC90. However, in January 2009, in a review of the car printed in The Times, he wrote: "I’ve just bought my third Volvo XC90 in a row and the simple fact is this: it takes six children to school in the morning."[78]

That list isn't complete. I believe he also had an SL55 AMG.

He just seems to crack on them every chance he gets. That is why I couldn't wait to see him test out a BRZ(not a GT-86).

He also owns an Evo X (not sure if it is an FQ-300, 360 or 400)

His wife also owns an Aston V8 Vantage and a Caterham R400

Not all the time. One of the earlier tests between the Evo VIII and STI (I think it was in Scotland, where they had the black Evo and the blue STI, though they ended up using a red Evo in the actual Top Gear lap) had him stating that he had still preferred the STI and had "no idea why."

Until the 08 and newer STI's, they always had said that if you wanted a car for one hot lap at the track, the Evo was your best bet. If you wanted a car to live with every day, they all liked the STI better.

Oh, Clarkson, and his forever incorrect operation of the STI's DCCD.

The "no idea why" is the type of crack I'm talking about. The STI was "better" but he can't bring himself to actually say anything nice about it. The closest I ever saw him get was his review of the P2.

The "no idea why" is that the EVO was the better driver's car, but he enjoys the STI more. It's like I can admit that the new ST is a very sorted fast piece of kit, but it doesn't set my patented James May penis root fizz alight (is there anyway to make that sound not gay?)

It wasn't a crack at it though... he picked the STI as his preference between the two. Does he really need to compliment it further? Richard Hammon also mirrored the same response, having also preferred it but without really having an explanation. Again, remember that the cars are very similar on paper, so their inability to pick one thing (outside of the car being a better daily driver) may be attributed to them both having a lot in common -- turbocharged four-cylinders, four doors, AWD, LSDs all around, big wings, etc. If one magically had the exterior of a Porsche or the other had the performance of a hypercar, then they'd have a clearer answer of why they liked it over the other.
