Default iPhone 5 Bluetooth Pairing issues

I have the new iPhone 5 & have paired it with the Bluetooth in my 2012 Impreza. Unlike my iPhone 4, I have to re-pair the iPhone through the phone itself each time I get in the car. I've tried unpairing & repairing to resolve with no luck. Is anyone else experiencing this?

I was able to pair it without a problem, and it remains paired every time I turn the car on. Maybe what masterforce suggests would work, remove all phones saved and then try to re-add your iPhone 5.

I did remove the iPhone 4 first. On another forum someone suggested pairing it with the voice commands instead. That seems to have worked. Thanks!

So, for the iPhone 5 to pair properly you can't have any other phones paired with the car?

There is another post on this... I followed the procedure and now my 5 works great, A little slower to connect, but it auto connects everytime! Something with setting it up through the steering wheel control...

Having this issue on my girlfriends 2012 Legacy. She can only pair one phone and I deleted her old one before adding this one. It was done through the radio.

Tag for solutions.

I found that pairing it through voice commands allowed it to auto reconnect.

I had to do the same thing. & Zoomnrx8 same here on it being slower to auto connect but at least it is now.

To delete on the head unit... Menu > Bluetooth Setup > Delete Audio > Confirm (IIRC & this is for the Premium non-nav, non-touchscreen menu)

Then to add with the steering wheel voice commands... Voice Command button & say "Setup" & it will guide you through the process. (Make sure you call it something else. Even if you delete the old phone it won't let you call the new one the same name.)

My iPhone 5 would not auto-connect, until I deleted it from car audio memory, and set it up using voice commands.
Cool
It connects every time now.
Thanks guys!!

Got my Iphone 5 yesterday. After hearing the other reports, I deleted the old profiles for my old phone and my Ipad before trying to pair my Iphone. It worked the first time no problem with my 2012 Impreza premium.
Before this I had been using my Ipad through the USB connector as my primary music/audio generator (that way I could keep my old phone linked through BT). So, I thought I'd try that with the Iphone 5. It almost worked, but not fully. It would bring up the song on the head unit screen, and it would show up on the iphone as a "dock", but it wouldn't auto play, and when I'd hit play on the screen it would play for a second then pause right away. I also couldn't navigate through my music collection like I could on the Ipad (still running old os).

Just thought I'd pass this info along, since I hadn't seen any one else mention the USB connection before. I was planning on running this through BT any way, so it's not a huge deal, just thought it was good info.

Anyone else having this issue? My iphone5 paired fine on my 2012 limited. My issue is that when I answer an incoming call using the steering wheel controls the radio mutes for a split second, the radio returns for about 2-3 seconds, and then finally the phone call comes over the Bluetooth connection. The time counter for the call increments this whole time so it looks like it has been connected the whole time.

It does this even after clearing everything out of the Bluetooth set-up and even if I use voice commands to pair the iPhone5.

Just confirming that pairing the iPhone 5 using steering wheel voice commands fixes the auto reconnect issue. Thanks!

Me.

Seems like I can't pick up calls through the steering wheelo either or through the phone, end up hanging up and calling back.

Mine does that too. I've just gotten in the habit of answering with the answer button on the phone. If I do it with the steering wheel & there is a few seconds of lag time, oh well, it's just a few seconds. No big deal.

I am having the same issue with my Blackberry. Tried everything, deleting it etc and nothing works.

I basically have to attempt to connect several times before it works and sometimes it connects everything except for being able to make calls.

I am not sure what to try next as I have already tried all the suggestions.

Do we know if this is a problem with the car or the smart phones?

I had the same problem of having to pair every time I got into the car (iphone 5 running 6.2). I thought I had deleted my prior setup doing it manually but when I followed the voice commands I discovered my old setup was still there. Once I deleted my old device setup through voice command, it all works seamlessly now. I had my daughter call me and there is a delay of about 2 seconds before the connection happens after hitting the "unhook" button. Have not tried it with the music playing yet. We'll see how that goes and if noteworthy I'll report back.

I've heard that many other people have been having issues with iOS 6 and bluetooth connectivity in cars. Not sure if it has been resolved yet though, it may be an issue with the Apple software.

Reporting back! iPhone 5 OS 6.2 stays paired fine. If I'm not listening to music there is just a slight delay in answering (2 seconds or so). If I'm listening to a CD, when I press the "unhook" (answer) button to answer it goes back to the CD momentarily then the phone call comes back after a few seconds. If I'm listening to music through the USB (still have an ipod and not using my phone for that) I press the "unhook" button and it immediately goes to "connecting to USB" and the music comes back on and the call is lost. Anyone else have this problem and/or found a fix?

I just did my iPhone 5 by voice command. I deleted from memory the way I had it setup by using the controls, then I started over from scratch using the voice commands. Somehow it saved what I called my phone from a previous voice command setup (apex), because when I tried calling it that again, it said it sounded too similar to "apex" so I tried "tourage" and it said it sounded too similar to "apex" so I renamed it to one of my favorite characters on Burn Notice "chuck finley" and it worked fine. It now connects, but is a little slower than what my 4S was doing.

+1 on voice commands. Totally separate menu from the on screen menu.
