Default At the dealership... AGAIN

This is the is my sixth time back at the dealership in 9 months for warranty related problems. Second trip for these horrible seats. The first time I had a broken lumbar spring clip that was replaced. Recently, my seat has been squeaking again like crazy and I can't stand it anymore! I really, really hope they can fix it for good this time...

Is there anyone here that has had their seat back fixed and have not had the squeaking return?

Well it appears as though there was another broken spring clip in the seat back. What a pain in the ass the cheap, poorly designed seats are! I'll probably be back in another couple months to have another clip replaced. At least the squeaking is temporarily gone...

As long as the car is at the dealership, request that they perform the squeaky seat TSB. I don't know if they'll be able to because there's a kit of parts that they would need to have on hand, but as long as they have the seat disassembled, they might as well perform the TSB (if they have the parts kit).

I have a squeaky seat too, all though it doesn't bother me that much. Debating whether its worth it to bring it in. How long does it take to fix that ish?

Mine doesn't bother me much either. It's pretty quiet, and I can only hear it when I'm getting into/out of the car, or shifting in my seat. Once I settle into position for the drive, I don't hear it at all.

Regardless, the next time I have a reason to bring the car in for service, I'll request the seat TSB when I make the appointment. But that might not be for many months--the car is running perfectly, and I do my own service, so I don't know when it'll be there next.

My seat squeak was getting bad. It would squeak while getting in/out, shifting my body any direction and while going over any imperfection in the road.

It's just very annoying and cheap sounding. I could even notice it even with the wind/road noise @50mph and the radio on 25.

It seems that replacing the broken spring clip takes care of the squeaking. Although, I'm positive that the squeaking will back in due time considering this has happened before and only a couple months ago.

does it just squeak or does it make the seat uncomfortable/lose support? my drivers seat isn't as comfortable as the passenger seat and I wonder if that could be why, i don't have squeaking though.

The very slight squeak in my seat hasn't changed its comfort at all.

It did lose a ton of support and caved in the middle of the seatback when the clip(s) were missing/broken. It wasnt too noticeable at first until they fixed it, then it was really noticeable.

Yeah mine has been to two dealers and finally got the tsb performed. Squeak is back and popping feeling in the upper lumbar. the support isnt even, and long trips are uncomfortable.
I would gladly pay good money to swap them but its not possible.

Not when all the airbag sensors and side impact curtains are part of the seat. Wreck the car and you're screwed if you get seriously injured.
Other than taking the seats completely apart and redesigning them there isnt any feasable way to fix it. And even then youre tampering with the srs system.
If you dont like the seats, too bad. They are what they are. Cheap.

I'm not sure what you mean by "Wreck the car and you're screwed if you get seriously injured", as it pertains to this conversation.

I wonder if WRX or STI seats can be installed and connected to the car's safety systems?

Do wrx seats have aibags and sensors just like the 12-13' Imprezas? Otherwise it wouldn't be very smart.
I'm not going to compromise safety for comfort and support.

I wasn't suggesting that you do so. I was simply wondering out loud if you could maintain all of the safety features by installing seats from a current-model WRX or STI.

Got ya. I am wondering too. But with MY luck, the seats arent something mess with if theyre part of the srs system. If the aibags were needed and didnt deploy that would be very bad. And passengers could make it even worse from a liability standpoint.
I'm really hoping over time solutions will be made for the seats.
I've thought about swapping these seats a lot. Maybe a feasable seat swap IS out there. I'd love to see someone do a swap and figure out what needs doing.

i think the only things the WRX/STI don't have is the knee airbag, but that isn't on the seat anyway.

i think 6 airbags are pretty much required now by law.

My driver's seat is uncomfortable in that it feels like it pokes me in the ribcage on the gear-lever side of the seat. Like a hard prong is digging in to my side. Do not like.

That said, I have no squeaky seats - so it may not be this issue. Has anyone else noticed an uncomfortable driver's seat in this area?

I am 5' 9" and 170 lbs.

Thx

Sometimes i feel something broken/sticking up on the seat where it meets the backrest. Sometimes i can feel it poking me when i sit and its annoying, but sometimes i dont feel it.

Located in the middle of the seat cushion, almost under the backrest. It feels like its poking at my tailbone honestly. lol

anyone else feel this?

No, I don't feel the ribcage poke (as sager does) or the tailbone poke (as myrt does). My seats are comfortable. They have started to squeak, but that hasn't affected their comfort.
