Default OEM Subaru parts on back order?

OK here's the scenario and i just want to make sure it's legit. My car's been in a shop for quite some time now. You guys might remember my story of me getting hit in pasadena while my car was parked. I dropped my car off at the shop the day after the accident. It was supposed to be done about a week ago but they said the part are on "back order". Does anyone know if this is true, that oem Subaru parts are on back order right now? I just want to make sure they're not laggin it and stuff. Thanks.

backorders definitely happen. If you are more specific with what parts are being ordered answers could be more specific.

i run durans body shop in L.A. and i know for a fact that subaru, mazda, and kia parts are rarely in stock. thats what you get when you own a subaru. if you were to have a honda, you'd have your car.

if you were to have a honda, you'd probably have killed yourself of boredom by now. :-)

I had an accident with similar damage and it took the shop 3 1/2 weeks to get my car done. Their reason was that its a fairly rare car and parts are tough to come by. I thought it was just a line but I guess its not.

Call Timmons, Irvine, Renick, Thousand Oaks. If they are popular collision items most all dealers stock them. Between you and the parts source a whole lot of bull crap takes place. Could be too your body shop has 4 jobs in front of yours and "back order " is the handiest excuse for delays. If you have correct part numbers try this locator aid:
