I think that's for a hitch, but most hitches I've seen have the receiver coming from underneath. I would love to get a hitch for my Impreza that has the receiver hidden there. Wouldn't be for towing, just for hitch mounted racks.

This thread is for the N/A 2.0i 2012's since they are a different generation than the 08-12 WRX/STi which has tons of aftermarket parts available.

So...
I just went down an old yet recently graded agricultural road in Sumter County. Lots of tight twisties and a fresh clay surface although it is and has been raining pretty hard.
Flicked on the brights and decided to take it for its first real fast dirt roading.
I think theres a ton of potential with thia chassis. It was smooth and predictable and handled the twisty sections really well.
Turning off the TC was fun but the VSC ... There should be a switch for that too!
I'm curious to see what Subaru does with the new WRX and the Fb's.
And I have a newfound interest in what the aftermarket can do for these cars.

Besides the handling and suspension i would love to hook up a coolant temp and oil pressure gauge so i can keep an eye on whats happening with the vehicle. I would hate to lose an engine because i didnt see the small red temp button flashing.

Anyone know any easy way to do this? Is there a whole computer monitor system that plugs into the computer port that i can get all the info from?

Have you checked out a scangauge II. It is inexpensive from what I remember when I bought mine and it has dozens of different settings for readouts. There is also a feature called x gauge that allows you to program other read outs that weren't programed into the unit originally. I know it definitely does coolant but I'm not sure about oil pressure. Their website has an entire list of what is possible. I've had my unit for at least 5 years and have never not had it in a car. I currently don't have it in as I haven't found a good mounting location yet.

That looks pretty nice.

I can't imagine it looking any good though, even if I somehow managed to install the mudflaps.

Lots if pricing info in the main impreza forum. Most people are paying well below invoice when ordering and waiting. I paid 600 below which is about 1750 or so below msrp. I think others paid even 400 less than I did.

Does anyone plan to attempt installing rally armor flaps over the sport aero flaps? I know it says they're incompatible, but I think it could look good and imagine there must be a simple fix to make it work.

I might plan to depending on the look and the difficulty of installing both.

In case anyone else is looking for a bike rack for the '12 Sport with aero cross bars, I found that the Yakima "Forklift" fits fairly well. I did need to insert a small rubber spacer into the rear bracket to make it clamp the rear cross-bar better. No clearance issues with the hatch door and no rattles or whistling noises once the bike is up top.

I had a Scangauge in my Miata, but for the Impreza I bought an ELM327 v1.5 Bluetooth OBDII Interface Auto Diagnostic Scanner for $25 on eBay (from seller yigounet in California). It's a small bluetooth dongle that plugs into the OBDII connector under the dash and provides wireless access to the OBD2 system. I got the free version of Torque for Android to access it from my Samsung Nexus S phone - huge range of readings and display formats. I'm sure there's something equivalent for iPhone/iPad.

Does anyone have any idea if there are any plans for lowering springs or coilovers for this car in the future?

All I want to do to this car is lower it, get some nice 18" wheels, window tints, and then daily drive the hell out of it.

Kind of defeats the purpose to buy a car for the gas mileage and then want to modify the engine heavily.

HR has some sport springs out they retail for $349 on their website and fit the sedan and hatch. They lower the front 1.4 and the rear 1.3 inches. I don't know who makes aftermarket shocks though to put them on.

I have so much fun on backroads, I couldnt imagine lowering this car. It would look pretty nice a half inch lower or so, but I like the dirt roads way too much and its already pretty low already. I would be interested in a good performance upgrade in the suspension dept but I'd want to retain stock ride height.

Waiting on a nicer, NOT ricer, sounding catback and intake.

^Agreed. I would never lower the car. It may make it look meaner, but it'll reduce driveability... something that I learned the hard way with my last car.

BTW, did I read somewhere that a certain model year STI rear sway bar fits the '12 Imprezas?
