Generally speaking, NA's don't get the same attention as WRX/STi's.. it's the hood scoop that identifies them, and most don't see NA's unless it's unusual, or is recognized by someone who knows your car.

It used to happen to me, until I put on mud-flaps, nice rims, HID's, front lip, and a windshield banner. After that people got to know me and would honk/wave like they knew me.

I don't get the bro-nod or anything because they can't tell I'm a subaru.

Some Subi drivers would still wave or give me some sort of acknowledgement when I had my '05 RS.

As far as outside funny/curious comments were concerned, I didn't really get any in my RS until my center pipe cracked so I just threw on a catback. With the WRX I can hardly drive in to work without someone in my building asking about it. Especially since the '11 (and '12) WRX's got the fender flares and all that in addition to the hood scoop.

Also, like I said I didnt know it was him. He was in a solid white hawkeye and I didnt look close enough to see the number. IIRC it was the same car that McRae rolled and kept racing in the X-Games.

Then 199 totals it 1.6 miles in to stage 2 of the race .

I can take a pic of the chunk of plastic I grabbed from the wreck site

So the other day I went to the bank. Waiting for traffic to clear to pull out an older Lexus with two mid 20 year old guys drive by, the guy in the passenger seat is stairing me/my car down. So I pull out and pass them since they get cought up in traffic. They finally catch up to me at the next light.

Passenger: Hey did you just get that car
Me: Nope just like to keep a paper plate on the car

I found this to be funny since I passed them and they had to of seen the paper plate in the back window.

Those are trucker hats... Which truckers and farmers actually wear. Why evo drivers started wearing them doesn't really matter...

I was at the gas station I work at today and as I was leaving one of my regluars in there goes
Him: "hey this is your blue car right?"
Me: "Yea..."
Him: "You see the black SUV at the Bobcat dealership across the street?"
Me: "...What?"
Him: "across the street kind of behind the bobcats"
Me: "OH! Yea...?"
Him: "Just to let you know... Its a cop."
Me: o.O "Alirght... thanks."

Funny to me cuz he assumed I drive like 123414MPH cuz I have a fast looking car.
I've been pulled over ONCE while in my car... Lies twice. once for expired plates damn snail mail.
and yes once was for speeding, and yes I was showing off for the girl in my car...

A couple of younger guys (i'm guestimating early 20's) park next to me at a Circle K in an early 90's 3-tone, yes-3-tone, Honda Accord:

Passenger: "Nice car, man."
Me: "Thanks, it's not bad."
Driver: "Wanna race?!"
Me:
Passenger: "No, dude. He's serious." **Engine revs**
Me: "No thanks, i'm okay."
Driver: "Okay, wanna trade cars?"
Me:
Driver: "Yea...I wouldn't either."

The best part was that they weren't being ass-hats, they were quite entertaining single-serving friends.

It's mainly the modified Subi's that wave. Most of these people are "enthusiasts" and recognize what's up. I lot of people in stock WRX's don't even wave.

It's a damned P.i.A. as well when, someone such as myself, put so much thought and love into their car but it gets overlooked because of the combination of N/A engine and subsequently bland styling (at least with the 08+ group).

If I told you the story behind the colorway of my car, heads would perk.

On that note:

Douche friend: So you got a Toyota?

Me: No!

DF: Mazda?

Me: NO!

DF: What other car comes in gold?

Me: ...i hate you...

Two Words: Ken Block. And yeah, it's unfortunate because I liked wearing my flatbills until Ken Block became synonymous with Subaru (even now even though he drives Ford) and everyone thought I was ripping off "his" style. It's not right. Just standard public (crowd) psychology.

On topic: Hilarious.

At school I've gotten "I want to **** your car" on various occasions when kids walk by outside of the dorms and such. Thanks I guess?
