Avoid this place like the plague! They're slow, rude and unfriendly. They're really not willing to negotiate either. Hmm, I wonder why I never got my survey form from them? I really hope that place loses business and dies!

Sorry Nick, I didn't really give any reasons why they suck. Here are some:
1) They're slow and rude. My family and I were in the negotiating room. The guy actually said "Excuse me, I need to go help someone who's actually serious about buying a car." W T F was that? I was there with my family and we were very serious about it. We were sitting there waiting for like half an hour. 2) They never sent me the survey I should have gotten to review them. Gee I wonder why... Well, at least I'm giving my review here. 3) They never gave me a "master" key. The one with actual black rubber on it that says Subaru. They gave me 2 cheapo metal copies. I had to buy a real key from a real dealer. 4) I only got 1 remote for my alarm when I should have gotten 2. Bastards. 5) My a/c came disconnected and my muffler had rust on it. No big deal, but this does tend to piss off new car owners... The only reason why I bought from them was because they were the only dealer with 01 BRP 5MT RS sedans around in the area at the time. Paid 21,275 OTD (only options: sound upgrade, alarm, trunk net, armrest extension) for it, even with my parents' master negotiating. I think that's a high price compared to others. Curse that place. I will never go back there, even if it's the last Subaru dealership on Earth. I've had an absolutely rotten experience with them. Mods, don't lock this. I'm harsh, but with good reason. I want everyone to know about this evil place called Diablo. Mike |

I second that Magic MT. I tried to buy my WRX from there too! They were rude and wouldn't deal. So I went to Albany Subaru and bought my WRX from them.

I agree that they aren't quite the best people around. I actually bought my car from them, but kept finding cheaper prices after I had initially ordered it. They kept getting more and more frustrated cause I kept walking in with lower prices. After about the third time they said they wouldn't match it because it was like a stab in the back, so I started walking out the door and they caved. Subaru's aren't quite that popular out in the East Bay, so i have no idea how they can have such a cocky attitude.

Wow, am I the black sheep or what? I bought my WRX from there and I was quite pleased. My guy, Tom, was always kind and friendly. The head manager though, what a great guy he was (sarcastic). I will definately check out Santa Cruz this week.

My friend and I went to the Walnut Creek Subaru dealership about a month ago to check out the wrx. Parked my car and walked towards the door. Three salesmen we standing there and talking amongst themselves. None of them said hello, its like we didn't exist. So were standing in the showroom looking at the wrx. Sat in the car, walked around it, looked at the sticker price and sat in the car again. About 10 minutes go by. No salesmen to help me out A salesmen in the showroom was busy helping a customer. After the customer had left, he decided to assist us. Thumbs down to Walnut Creek Subaru :monkey:

Mmmm, my favorite dealership..
So it's an old thread, but since I'm looking for service reviews, I'll post my experiences with them. I bought my 2.5 RS for about 800 over invoice back in November 98 from a very cool salesman. His name eludes me though. However the other two salesmen I dealt with were horrible and very nearly sent my business elsewhere. What sealed it was that I was able to test drive the car I bought twice. Both times I was given the keys and told to come back "before (they) close". However, one good salesman does not make a good dealership. Service Department. Oh how I loathe thee. At about 15k, the left rear of my car started making that oh so familliar turbine noise. I brought it in and had it replaced. End of problem. Not so. 7k miles and 3 months later, the noise returned. I brought the car back in and explained that it was doing the same thing. They agreed to replace it but explained that because it is a "wearable item" it shouldn't have been covered my the 3y/36k warrantee. I asked if there were a PARTS warrantee and they agreed to replace it under warrentee. So kind of them. So in the middle of a family crisis, I begin my drive down to San Diego not three weeks later. And as I'm driving down I5, 70 miles into the trip, the noise begins again. 25 miles later I decide to turn around and head back to the last gas stop (Anderson's Split Pea - Coachella?). <5 miles after turning around the back of the car starts following it's own path. I stop. Oh, that would be my third bearing failure in less than a year. This time well under 1000 miles after the last replacement. I call Walnut Creek Service and explain my situation. I'm told, my the service manager, that "the last time they were under my car, they noticed that my suspension wasn't stock..." as if that would explain the failures. I had a 20mm rear bar - that's IT. I ask what they're going to do for me. They gave me 1800 Subaru 3. When I return home from my trip, I stop in to talk to the operations manager. I explain my experiences and he doesn't even apologize. He listened and then explained that he was busy but "would look into it" and sent me on my way. |

I had a crap time with them too! Then I called up Carlsen Subaru in Redwood City. They said they had a one price policy for internet shoppers - $300 over invoice. I did my paperwork via fax. Picked the car up two days later. In and out in 1 hour. May not be for everyone, but it definitely was for me. Two people there - Warren Novak or Larry Fong are great sales people to deal with. Go there!

This is shocking, considering I have probably had the exact oppposite of all your experiences at leats in the service department and at least for my mazdaspeed protege. It is diablo mazda subaru right? Anywayz, on my MSP, I had extensive modifications to it, and brought the car in at the very least 30 times to get all kinds of things fixed and have had only a couple minor problems with them. Hahaha, either there different with mazda owners or something but I loved that damn warranty, took advantage of the dealership for three years

i went to check out an 08 WRX today. It took a good 2 minutes for a salesman to open the door, stick out his head and ask me what i was doing. He next looked at me, asked if i was going to buy it. As soon as i said, im not sure, im just looking at it right now he stuck his head back inside and walked away. Looks like I'm going to Santa Cruz to pick up my next car.

I agre with most posts on here. Bought my 2.5i there in July. I stood looking at cars for 20 min before anyone even said can i help you. the saleman John Rees treated me like a easy sale and a punk kid. He gave EVERYONE else more attention and even left during our talks to help others leaving me waiting with questions. He gave me a hard time when i asked to change my down payment amount like its not his job or something.
All this after he told me i have Tier 1 credit and i can walk out with any car on the lot. When i told him from the begining i wante a spoiler added to the loan he gave me trouble at the end after he forgot. Iwtold him add it to the loan with the same down payment or i walk (not too big a deal right?). The only thing i was pleased about is they DID actually come down on the price every bit i wanted and beat everyone elses price. I could have driven to other dealerships furhter away but why do that when they bring the car to me and beat their price. I think since they were rolling in the 08's literally 1-2 weeks after i bought my car is why they gave me whatever price i asked. I got 3 keys (1 black 2 silver) and 2 remote entries. First 2 oil changes free and they say a free wash every time it comes in. |

I went in today with the intent of purchasing a 2009 STi via the Costco auto referral program -
Although John mentioned that they'd give me the car at "invoice" - they quoted me a price about $700 above invoice. I've found a better deal elsewhere and given the responses from others, I'm a bit wary of haggling/etc. |
