Default Question about OEM 02-03 rear diffuser

Everyone says this is a oem part, but I have checked subarugenuineparts.comand there is nothing but the 06 one. I have an 04 with the rear spats that have the lip on the bottom it. Many bug eye owners have them in association with the oem rear diffuser. 2 questions.

Would this fit my car, some say it wont, Why?

Where can this part be bought from?

Here is the 02 03 set. Don't know if it will fit your car though

It's discontinued, can only be bought in Aspen White, and won't fit the '04 bumper without a lot of modification because the bottom of the bumpers are totally different shapes.

The rear diffuser is an STI 2006-2007 OEM part, but there are three kits available to fit it to any pre 2006 STI or 2002-2007 non-STI model.

Subaru Genuine Parts, for example, sells two kits:
One comes with OEM style bolt-on brackets
The other comes with OEM style weld-on brackets

A third kit, not available from SGP, is the Cusco frame bar and rear diffuser kit. The kit comes with a frame bar, forward bracket that mounts to the frame bar and a rearward bracket that mounts to two OEM points just below the rear bumper cover. The diffuser in this case uses four of the five mounting holes -- the center hole is not used.

I have the Cusco kit. The diffuser is on there solid -- no rattling or flexing.

I got this kit because I did not want to either drill holes or have welding performed.

The Cusco kit is available through JSC Speed and other vendors.

There isn't one that looks like them for later years.

here's mine. it needed lots of work to fit my 05 bumper properly. just get an 02-03 rear bumper and you will have a much easier time fitting it on.

the 05 bumper is wider by about 3 inches and rounder whereas the rear lip is more angular. molding is needed and urethane is needed to fill in the gaps.
