shuddering problem-help in san diego
Hi all...did a search on the shuddering problem but was hoping for some specific insight...
I'm getting an eye-popping cold-sweat-breaking-into whole car shudder going into first gear sometimes when it is cold and wet in the mornings. Currently, I am in St. Louis. I am moving to San Diego in less than a month (important). Anyways, I've taken the car back to the dealer where I bought it used (40K). He can't repeat the phenomenon (of course). I took it to another St. Louis subie dealer, who also found nothing wrong with it. This dredded shudder only happens very infrequently with cold/wet weather, and goes away as the car warms up. By the way, also ailing my car is a grind when shifting into reverse gear. This happens frequently, probably 1/3 the time. I always have the car at a complete stop, and will even double clutch to no avail. This, the dealer was able to reproduce and called in the district warranty manager (from Iowa). He, after making me go without the use of my car (dropped off for him to inspect) declared it to be in perfect working condition (bull*****), and destroyed any glimpse of a warranty. So the point of the story is this. I have heard of some dealers being 'cooler' than others. Moving to San Diego in August (a much more civilized part of the nation--and yes I can trash the midwest b/c I've lived here 23 years!), I figure someone can point me to an excellent dealer in the SD area who will treat me the way a future subie-repeat-buyer should be. Any insights into my problems will be greatly appreciated! Matthew

Bob Baker Subaru, either in Carlsbad or El Cajon - is a good place. PLus, we have a pretty knowledgble Subacrew around here.
