Default 06 fxt 5spd clicking sound from rear; possibly rear diff

My 06 fxt (5spd) has developed a clicking sound, almost like when brake pads are sticking type of sound. Its not that though. Its more pronounced when the car has been driven and is warmed up. Makes 1- 2 clicks then back to normal. Does not click all the time.

The clicking has become more frequent over the past month, since the issue began. I usually hear it when i make a sharp turn at low speeds or when taking off from a stop.

Def seems like sound is coming from the rear. From what ive read here on boards, people seem to say its usually the center diff going out. But sound seems to be coming from passenger rear. Im leaning towards rear diff going/gone bad.

Others have also mentioned loose axle nut, but my vehicle makes clicking noise when in gear, never in neutral; if that were the case the noise would be present all the time.

If it is rear diff, what are my options if it turns out i need to get it replaced? How do i go about properly diagnosing this issue?

Any fxt rear diff; 02-07 wrx rear diffs? 04-07 sti rear diffs etc...

Thanks for your help guys.
