Default 2010 Audi A4 TDI clean diesel and A3 TFSI coming to U.S

Quote:
Two out of three models that Audi will be unveiling next month at the Frankfurt Motor Show are likely to come to North America. The A4 TDI clean diesel will make its debut with the latest edition of the firmís 3.0-liter diesel V6. While the TDI V6 has been available in the current generation A4 since it launched early last year, the new one adds the same 2,000 BAR common rail fuel system and urea injection found on the Q7 and VW Touareg now available in the U.S. market. US fans would probably like the V6 TDI A4 for its torque. It appears that itís likely to arrive in US shores since the gas V6 was discontinued for 2010. Continued after the jump!

In sedan form, itís rated at 34.6 mpg (U.S.). The A3 gets a new 1.2-liter TFSI (turbocharged and direct injected) gas engine with 105 horsepower and 129 lb-ft of torque. This engine gets the A3 to 42.8 mpg (U.S.) and makes the car go from 0-62 mph in 11.1 seconds.
While this could probably pass U.S. emissions with ease, Audi is less likely to offer it here anytime soon given Audiís premium position in the market. Audi has already said that the new A5 Sportback will not be offered in the US. The five-door hatch S5 Sportback will get the same 333 hp supercharged 3.0-liter V6 going into the new S4 to start, but it will also likely get the other engines available in the A4/A5 eventually.

Damn, I wonder what the price tag will be on the TDI A4?

If they follow BMW's suit, probably several grand more than an A4.

A3

This one could probably pass U.S. emissions with ease, but given Audi's premium position in the market, they are less likely to offer it here anytime soon.

Which is why I said, "Damn".

I'd buy an A3 with the 180 hp TDI in it today for low 30's.

Ah, for some reason I thought the 2.0 TDI was sold in 140 and 180 hp versions. I've driven the more powerful one and it would be a fantastic mill for my daily commuter.
