Default GM Increases MSRP On Most 2021 Chevrolet Models

General Motors has increased the Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) on most 2021 Chevrolet models, including for popular products like the Silverado 1500 pickup and Tahoe/Suburban SUVs.

Some of the most significant price increases have been applied to the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban. The base LS trim-level for both SUVs is now $1,000 more expensive, while the LT trim is $900 more and the RST and Z71 trims are $700 more. The Premier trim level for both SUVs has also gone up in price by $600, while the range-topping High Country has increased by $500.

The Silverado 1500, meanwhile, has gone up in price by $250 to $400 for most trim levels and engine combinations, although the Custom trim level is now $2,300 more expensive than it was previously, which is the most significant price increase applied to any model. Certain Silverado 1500 variants with the 5.3L L82 V8 have also received a slightly lesser price increase (by $50), as these trucks are being shipped without AFM/DFM due to the semiconductor chip shortage. Price increases for the 2021 Silverado HD range from $200 to $700 depending on the trim level and powertrain chosen.

The Equinox, which is Chevy’s most popular crossover model, is now $100 more expensive than it was previously, although the entry-level L trim level did not receive a price increase. The Blazer is $300 more expensive for all trim levels except the Premier, which has gone up by $200. The Trailblazer and Trax have gone up by $200 across the board, while all Traverse trim levels except the base L have gone up by $300. The Spark hatchback is now $200 more expensive across the board, as is the Malibu sedan. The Camaro sports coupe has also gone up by $200 for all trim level/powertrain combinations.

The Chevy Express van is also now more expensive than it was previously. The WT trim level has gone up in price by $500, while the LS and LT models have gone up by $800. The Z71 and off-road-focused ZR2 trim levels for the Chevy Colorado mid-size pickup have gone up in price, as well, gaining $1,000.

A couple of models did not receive a price increase. The 2021 Chevrolet Bolt EV has the same MSRP, as GM is preparing to launch the updated 2022 model year Bolt EV this summer. The 2021 Corvette received a $1,000 price increase earlier in the year, as well, so it sticks with its $60,995 price tag.

New Car Prices Are Skyrocketing This Spring

Inventories are tight, demand is high, and incentives are low. Transaction prices are up as a result, but this won't last forever.

MSRP is just a made up reference number at this point, especially on big 3 vehicles. It can be very different from actual transaction price.

MSRP does mean Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price... emphasis on Suggested.
