Make sure to tighten the headset before you ride it. You can make the headtube oblong. Then you will need a set of deepcups, wich does not always fix it.

Probably, if I were you, I would bring it to a good local LBS and give it a quick once over.

Went riding at Vietnam this past Saturday. (and oh boy is someone out of shape) The trails seemed pretty solid, but there are leaves everywhere making it hard to see the correct paths to take at parts I was less familiar with. I was thinking of contacting the land management to see if they'd like a volunteer to go out and rake the trails.

There are a bunch of guys who go out weekly on Busted Spoke. They already did one round of trail maintenance. Look in the trail maintenance board and chime in.

From what they say, the trails are getting good. Just some of the stunts aren't quite 100% yet.

Kingdom trails in Burke VT have way more than just XC. I'd be willing to say that the Kindom trails system is the best in Vermont. Stowe VT has some great XC/AM trails that are pretty well marked along with a DJ park that's pretty close to the trails. Also, coming to Stowe gives you an excuse to drive through Smuggler's Notch. For DH, really all I can tell you is to stay the hell away from Sugarbush VT. By far the crappiest trails I've ever been on.

Went out this weekend for the first time this year and oh god I am so out of shape. Didn't really hit the gym this winter at all so I am a slug right now. Did a quick jaunt at Borderland state park.. planning on hitting some other places soon though hopefully.

Anybody ride Massasoit? I pretty much ride that as my "home course" because it is about 15 minutes from my house. I haven't heard anybody mention Jimminy Peak for DHing. It's pretty decent for DH and at about 2 hrs from Eastern MA, not much different than Attitash etc.
I sold my dedicated DH bike (06 Big Hit3) last year, but still have my 06 Specialized Enduro. I did a decent amount of custom work to it, but kept it durable so I could DH it if I wanted. I love it way more than I ever thought I would, on the XC trails, so much that I just sold my Ti hardtail!

Just bought a set of Avid BB7 discs F&R to try out. Not hydraulic discs but I didn't really want to have to mess with new levers, reservoir, etc. I don't DH my bike so I wouldn't require the stopping power those provide. I am running Avid Single Digit Ti v-brakes right now which have been good, but I've bent a couple wheels on some nasty rocks and it has skewed my braking a bit, so I figure I'll try out the discs.

My birthday is in a week and a half or so and I'm planning on having my fiance pick me up a set of decent knee/shin guards. Does anybody have any recommendations? I pretty much exclusively use Pricepoint.com for my parts buying but I'm not hell bent on using them. I was looking at the Fox Launch, Troy Lee Designs Lopes Sig & TLD New Combat, Roach Rally FR leg armor... any other recommendations?

Anyone down to hit up Cutler park in Needham on Friday?

Super fast paced single track with banked turns. The trails are very smooth which makes it easier to get up to speed. Lots of sharp turns that feel awesome when flyin through them at 15+ mph.

Then maybe hit up the Greendale woods in Needham (just across the highway, don't worry theres a bridge right there..).
here are a few pics of greendale.

I love the Roach/Race Face FR leg and arm protection. TLD stuff is always nice, but I wasn't a fan of the Fox Launch based on how it attached and felt.

Looks like fun trails Matt. I work on Friday, but I would be down to hit it up soon. Vietnam is getting good too.

Keep an eye on Chainlove.com, they have had half off the Roach FR knee pads on and off for a few weeks.

Hmm... I think that is pretty close to half off, so that may be worth it too.

First time I went Downhill mountain biking was at Jiminy Peak in western MA, i stuck to mainly the easy trails, but I gave a shot at a blue square with was nice. Mad an attempt at a diamond which was a BAD idea, VERY steep and twisty, i had trouble walking down, seriously.

One trail also had a 10 footer drop, it was nutz. I had to stop short and i was like Then I heard some noise behind me, moved over to the side, and two bikers hit it without even thinking twice about it.

Well that's what ****ty writing will do for ya, confuse the ever-loving crap out of people. I actually wasn't talking about the trails at all, but rather the drive distance from Eastern MA. I haven't ridden Attitash, so I couldn't compare the two. Jimminy seems to get pretty muddy and sloppy when it rains, so they actually didn't have everything open when I last went, but some buddies of mine went later when it was all open and burned out their brake pads from riding them and their shorts from ****ting them. I guess a couple sections are simply ridiculously steep with no real way to traverse to ease the grade. I definitely prefer the more open, fast runs there. something about health insurance copays, and wanting to ride the rest of the summer. Oh and +1 on the 661 gear, It's inexpensive and functional, what more do you want?
