Default Im buying a Subaru! but i dont know which one to get

Heres my situation and I hope im posting this is the right place. I will be purchasing my first Subaru sometime in the next year. Theres just something about them that I have always loved. But I am having trouble deciding, so hopefully I can get some good advice from this forum.

I want a 2006 or newer WRX or possibly even an STI. I have 7,000 dollars saved and dont want to finance more than 10,000 from the bank. That being said I can spend 17,000 today or if I wait until early next year I will be able to spend around 20,000.

Heres my question theres a 2006 WRX down the street selling for 14,900 from a Subaru dealer. Do I purchase this car or should I wait until I can get a newer model. I do like the 5 door look of the 08 and 09's. Is there anything I need to know about 06/07 models over the 08/09 models. And is it worth spending up to 25,000 to get a 06 STI.

Thanks for any advice you guys can give. I am going crazy trying to make up my mind.
