Arrow STI air splitter or stock air splitter?

I have the STOCK intercooler, but have the STI hood scoop and air splitter... I just recently got the speedmonkey chimney heat shield... and wondering which is better to use... Although the stock air splitter and seal, seal perfectly around the inside of the intercooler... the STI one has an extra fin to direct more air into the center of the intercooler rather than just the back part.... One thing that I have noticed is that the STI splitter gives you about an inch on the passenger side as far as being able to put your finger through... so it actuall seals the entire intercooler but leaves some to where it doesn't... I was thinking that since it has an inch over the passenger side this might be kinda good because then it will put air over the heatshield and let cool air breeze over it... any pros cons etc?

I should note that I have been running my car with the STI hoodscoop and splitter for the past 5 months with zero problems...

I just got my TBE installed so heat is an issue for it being hotter without all the factory heatshields... just wondering if that inch that it's over lapping the IC would cause heatsoak..

Thanks,
-Nigel

The splitter should always be the appropriate one for the intercooler, not the scoop. If you had an STi intercooler, then you should use the STi splitter. With a stock IC, use the stock splitter

There are splitter that you can add to the stock ic seal/splitter. Check e-bay, they are always on there. You want to use the stock seal with the stock ic.

Default Ebay purchase

Bought one off of Ebay - aluminum and light, it fit perfect - only took 20 minutes to put on. Seems to be working fine! Much cheaper than all those other splitters and it does the same thing.

Just to clear things up I own both the stock splitter and the gunine STI splitter... When I got the sti hood scoop I also put on the sti air splitter. I was and still am using the stock intercooler, but when running the sti air splitter I didn't notice any performance decrease or anything like that. I just figured that since the sti air splitter has the extra metal piece in it to evenly distribute the air rather than the stock air splitter that only puts air on the back of the intercooler, I figured that running the sti one would be better....

The stock splitter doesn't even touch and seal to the top-interior of the STi scoop...I'd get one designed for the STi scoop.

there isn't going to be a seat of the pants performance gain. What you will gain is the ability to cool of the ic much quicker when you have a proper seal between the scoop and ic. If it was me, I would be running the stock seal, and look for a splitter. Doesn't the sti splitter hango over the edge of the stock ic??
