Default Legacy guys!!! and anyone else....need help pricing.

My wife and I looked at a legacy 2.5GT in green...1998 vintage. NICE car. REALLY straight. the side moldings have done their job. it's always been a southern car.

79k miles. Cassette, CD, pwr everything....

What's the going price???

I'm going to KBB and autotrader...just wanted some opinions...

I would swag about $14K if private sale and $16500 from a dealer.

KBB usually runs high. I have a generally favorable opinion about Edmunds.

$16k might be a lil high, but check the numbers and judge the car. You'll know what's right to offer.

9800 sounds too low, especially for a dealer. check to see if it has a clean title or if there's something else seriously wrong with it.

Yeah that price sounds low. I'd make sure it never went swimming.

Get a good third party mechanic to check it out, if it is kosher then jump on it! Not a bad price at all if the car is in good condition.

well it was a trade in at an audi dealer that's very reputable. The car was a 1 owner (I've done my homework) and has to have been sitting there for a while. it was 11, and now 9900 or 9800 or whatever...

there were no funny smells, the guy said he could get a carfax, but they only put clean cars out there, the rest go to auction.

In my semi professional mechanic's opinion, it's a nice car.

Jump on it if its under $10k. If the engine blows up next week you can put a new one in for cheaper then what most dealers are asking for their Legacy GTs.

Theres a possibility the engine had to be dealer serviced due to the shaky possibility of the Phase I engine blowing a Head Gasket.

I agree! That's an excellent price, especially with lo miles. If you have any doubts you can usually buy an extended warranty, possibly through the bank/CU or finance company with some of the dough you're saving. Hope it works out!
