Default Leaving the car for 6 weeks...should I store it?

I'm going to be leaving the car for about a month and a half, my question is should I bother going through the storage procedures for storing a car for months at a time?

I was going to do:
1) gas stabil
2) seafoam in the oil (or change it completely so its fresh when I start it up)
3) jackstands for the car
4) desicant packs in the interior
4) take out the battery and put it on a tender

Should I even bother? It's sort of in between a usual vacation and long-term storage. Only worries is that I'll be starting it up again in the middle of a midwest winter.

Also, if I take out the battery (and put it on a tender indoors) would I lose the map for my tune? I have an openECU tune and would HATE to shell out another $400 to retune it at the dyno

I would just let the car sit as-is. That's not much time at all for anything to go wrong.

id fill the tank, close the hvac vent, buy a 10pound bag of charcoal, pour it in a plastic bucket and put it in the back seat on the floor and disconnect the battery, pop a plastic cup over the exhaust tip and go

would disconnecting the battery erase my reflash? That's pretty much my primary concern.

I vote for jack stands, a battery tender and an oil change when you are back.

I would let the car sit as is. I stored my car at a neighbor's garage from June to end of August (went to Poland for the summer) without doing anything extra other than a full tank of gas. After I came back, the car started up fine and simply got an oil change afterwards.

nah. just leave it at a buddy or brother's place and have them start the car once a week and take it around the block.

Make sure you trust this person, though.

Change the oil/filter and don't add anything to it. You need to keep the battery charged up. If you let the battery discharge in freezing cold weather, it can be ruined. I use this on my dual-sport motorcycle to maintain the battery in the winter. It's cheap and will work on cars, too. If anyone happens to buy it, don't worry about the "smallish" amp rating on the box. Amp ratings for battery's are misunderstood. The battery in an 07' WRX 5 speed from the factory is rated 48 amp hours.

I thought it was six months, not six weeks. You really don't need to do anything imo.

You'd be better off just letting the car sit. Driving short distances (like around the block) is going to potentially introduce more fuel into the oil which won't burn-off on a short drive around the block. If someone does take it out while the OP is gone, I'd make sure they take it for a good drive on the highway and get the coolant and oil up to temp for a bit.

I was gonna say the same thing. There's nothing positive in starting the car like that.

Change Oil and filter. Honestly though, I left my car for 6 weeks and asked my buddy to drive my car around the block once a week but he didn't. My car sat there for 6 weeks and when i got back, it fired up good as new and drove fine.

Got back last week, car started up without a hitch Had to ride the brakes a little to clear all the rust that developed on the rotors though.

On a related note, my friend left her Accent untouched for 4 months and she started it right up and picked me up from the airport

Guess who's going to be changing the oil this weekend as compensation
