wrecked my rex...a little...
comming home last night at around 11:30...clean, freshly waxed car...rain drop beads collected beautifully across the shiny hood and sliped right off...roads were wet...entered my neighborhood...different story...every inch of wet pavement was now a thin sheet of ice...comming to a slight curve in the road at just above 30...with a fair amount of force i step on the break pedal to slow my speed...with my studless snow tires still on my car immeadiately began to slide with ease across the slick pavement just like the the beads of water on my hood...from slide then to spin...and spin...and spin right in to the snow turned ice mounds on the side of the road...passenger side front and rear doos are both fcked up with dents and deep scratches...driver side rear door is fcked up just the same...my car looks like a s s ...
sorry im venting...what should i do...WHAT SHOULD I DO...how much is it gonna cost me? help me please... <-- gilbert...add missing tear drop...

How sharp are the dents? Will a Dent King work? Just kidding. I know the feeling. My car was keyed and then hit within a month.
Did you get a repair estimate? Figure out if it's worth reporting to your insurance. Winslow |

Without pictures it's a little hard to estimate costs - but if you replace the damaged doors, then prep and paint both sides of the car, you are looking at a good $3500-$4000, anyway.
as a point of reference, I got hit on the passenger side (wasn't even that bad... except that it was an uninsured motorist) - damaged both side doors, the side spoiler and the little metal band which goes around the wheel well just after the rear door - they replaced both doors, replaced the side spoiler, repaired the quarter panel/wheel well (metal repair - no bondo!), repainted the doors, blended the paint into the front quarter panel, etc., then cleared the entire side of the car - that was just under $3k... |

Sorry to hear about the accident Gilbert. I think the best policy is to just be upfront with your mom. These things happen.
Even though this winter has been unusually warm, the studded Nokians have saved me countless times. I think they are one of the best mods, certainly a good one to start with, especially when you plan to increase the HP on your engine. I came too close to slamming into a big bull moose sunday night in the area between Sterling and Soldotna. This area is usually a safe zone as most moose are seen back near Cooper Landing or further south past Soldotna. His rear end was towards me and I couldn't catch that reflection in the eyes that I usually look for. The road grime on my headlight covers was making my headlights fairly dim. ABS braking or not, I was on top of him by the time I saw him and didn't feel I had enough room to stop before plowing into the big fellow. No traffic was coming from the other way. I just "yanked" the wheel left, since mister wide-load bullwinkle was taking up most of my lane. I quickly countersteered to stay on the road and then gently moved back into the proper lane. The roads were slick cause there was a good storm that night. The car handled it flawlessy barely breaking into a slide through the whole manuever. I imagine I would have either eaten the moose (literally) or hit the ditch without the tires. NOMAD Last edited by Nomadgene; 02-26-2003 at 12:22 AM. |

After The Covert Operation I should be able to help you pop out the rear doors.
