Timing belt replaced 8 months ago. Cracks?
Replaced at about 120k miles, it's now at 126XXX.
I went to Mineike for an oil change and they showed me all the little cracks around the belt. A Gates timing belt kit was used with OEM Subaru pullies and pump. Should I be worried or is this another trick to get money?

You went for an oil change and they removed your timing covers to inspect your timing belt?

There is no way no how that a quick lube place pulled off the other accessory belts, and then the timing belt cover, to show you the belt. Not going to happen!
They showed you the accessory belts. |

No, they showed you your ACCESSORY belt(s). They drive your power steering pump and alternator/ac. If they removed the timing belt cover to show you anything, they are idiots.

Did the shop tell you it was indeed a "timing belt" and then point to the accessory belts? That would be the worrying part of the story.

^^ I have to take the company vehicle to a "quick lube" type of place for the service needs....They try like hell to up-sell the "dirty" air filters, blah blah garbage every time. I guess it's just business, but c'mon. Honesty undervalued in the service world.
