Yet another race with Grosjean damaging his car... Even if Kimi goes to RBR next season, I predict Wholesale Jeans will be replaced simply because he breaks things too often.

Because they don't have engine deals for 2014 yet? What's your crystal ball say about Caterham?

+1 to this. Just got back home to watch the race, I'm met with a race summary at the start of the broadcast. :| It's all well and good that it was on CNBC instead, but NBC Sports had this time slot listed as F1 race, why wouldn't I assume it is accurate?

BBC download really underscored how much better a job they do, I think I'm just going to torrents from now on. I would have done it years ago but it is a pretty heavy bandwidth hit.

Sauber:
- no main sponsor
- stopped development for the 2014 car
- stopped paying salaries
- this yearīs car is crap, less points = less money at the end of the year
- Matt Morris, chief designer, has left Sauber

currently searching for some Sugardaddy Bigbucks in Russia...

Quote:
Nico Hulkenberg is the victim of a financial crisis at Swiss team Sauber, the German newspaper Bild reports.

We reported on Sunday that, as the Hinwil based team runs out of money, development of the uncompetitive C32 has stopped, and suppliers' bills are going unpaid.

The Swiss newspaper Blick said that Sauber is desperately waiting for a new sponsor, believed to be Russian natural gas giant Gazprom, to sign up.

Bild correspondents Helmut Uhl and Nicola Pohl claim that Hulkenberg is yet to be paid for May.

Team boss Monisha Kaltenborn confirmed: "It's true, we're in trouble at the moment, but we will get out of it again, and in any case will still be here at the end of the season." (GMM.)

Current chief designer of the Sauber F1 Team, Matt Morris is leaving the Swiss team after only 2 years with the team. Morris will join McLaren as soon as his Sauber contract is released.

The departure comes only about a year after former Sauber technical director James Key left for Toro Rosso. Morris at that time was promoted to his current role as Chief Designer but now departs the team completely. At Sauber he will be replaced by Sauber's current Head of concept design Eric Gandelin.

For McLaren, Morris is part of "an ongoing programme to strengthen the engineering department as our organisation prepares for the arrival of Honda in 2015.", a spokesperson commented to Autosport.

Morris will work as Engineering Director at McLaren.

"Matt Morris will join McLaren Racing as engineering director once his current contractual situation with Sauber is resolved. Matt will work for our technical director, Tim Goss, to ensure our engineering standards and technical decision-making capabilities are of the highest quality.

Before joining Sauber as head of mechanical design in April 2011, Morris worked for Williams between 2003 and 2011.

Sauber has allayed fears a financial crisis could see the Swiss team exit formula one before the 2013 season is out.

A constant presence in F1 since 1993, the Hinwil based squad lost its works BMW backing at the end of 2009 and ever since has been among the sport's struggling privateers.

This year, Sauber unveiled an uncompetitive Ferrari-powered C32, but promised to develop and improve it.

"For financial reasons, development of the car has stopped," revealed authoritative Swiss correspondent for the Blick newspaper, Roger Benoit.

There are rumours bills are going unpaid, and chief designer Matt Morris has already fled to McLaren.

Told by Benoit that in February she promised the C32 would look very different by mid-season, team boss Monisha Kaltenborn revealed the reason for the lack of development.

"We have been in negotiation for some time with a potential partner," she said.

"The whole thing is taking more time than we thought it would, but we are on track."

It is rumoured that potential partner is Gazprom, the Russian natural gas giant that was a Minardi sponsor some years ago.

Gazprom recently became a sponsor of Sauber's English football club partner, Chelsea.

Asked by Benoit if she can guarantee Sauber will still be on the grid come the season finale in November, Kaltenborn answered: "We have been asked that question since 2010.

"We are currently going through a difficult phase, but we will continue in 2013 to the end."

Ecclestone donīt like them, not signed the concorde agreement, no money from Ecclestone

as for Lotus, that was a joke, more or less

yeah safety cars are pretty ridiculous this season. on track wayyy to long with letting the back markers go. who thought that was a good idea? just put them in the back and leave them a lap down. jesus.

i'm not sure the tire explosions were 100% pirellis fault. sure, the tires should be able to stand up to more abuse than they were put through before failing, but i think if the drivers had stayed in the confines of the track and kerbs (ie: not using the green cement) i doubt there would have been any blowouts like we saw.

Do you think that the drivers changed their driving style in the last years?

Itīs the same curb for more than three years, but not in 2012 nor in 2011 we have seen any tire explosions.

The GP2 held practice and two races at the same weekend in Silverstone, with Pirelli tires, no tire explosions.

A number of commentators (especially DC) were going on about the white line being the edge of the circuit, but my understanding was only part of the car needs to stay on the circuit. Meaning, two wheels over the line is perfectly legal. Were these guys putting the entire car over the curb?

It does seem like they get closer and closer to having the outside tires on the line in some corners. In some corners it's worth a couple hundredths per lap.

They also added a bunch of drains since last year too. Is Silverstone heavy on left tires? There's got to be a reason it was all left rears going.

Anthony Davidson on the SkyPad showed Rosberg was perilously close to his tire going. The chunk was already visibly flapping off while he was on track. You could really see it starting to come apart.

yes, i saw them go all four off a number of times. i don't remember if it was at the specific corner, but they def did coming onto the front straight.

the point is, they are driving off track. so technically, it's the drivers fault and pirelli and the fia aren't really required to do anything. driver's need to remain inside the white lines or risk things like this. however, i did say that the tires should be able to stand up to more abuse than they were put through.

exactly, and where did the cuts come from?

from the insides of the kerbs. essentially, they are corner cutting.

I completely disagree. The curbs are part of the track and the racing line that they have been taking for years without issue. Even when deliberately told to stay off the curbs the drivers couldn't do it. Alonso said after the race it's not going to happen as that is the racing line and they are racing. Same curbs, same track, same racing line, new tires and suddenly it's a problem but it's not the tires? Come on. It's been the tires all year.

Two wheels on the curbs is not "driving off the track" or "corner cutting". Show me a racetrack on the calendar where the drivers aren't allowed to use the curbs. It's the racing line.

i'm not saying two wheels off is corner cutting. and i'm not saying driving over the red and white is not accepted. the kerbs are there to use. i agree.
it is when they are using the cement beyond the kerb (the green) that they are having issues, ESPECIALLY in T4 with the yaw angles the cars are having. the insides of the kerbs where the green meets the red and white is basically pulling at the sidewalls lap after lap and causing them to finally give out and blow off.

and there definitely are some differences in the green cement from 2011 to 2013. there is more of it. IMO, the green gives the driver a reason to cut a little more and push a little more. so i do think the line has slightly evolved. every time they go onto the green and come back over the kerb, little bits of damage will be done. it all adds up.

don't get me wrong. i do believe the tires should have been able to hold up to the abuse and i do think they need to change, but i don't think they were 100% at fault this weekend.

Gotta love people arguing semantics.

The Pirellis are a much more vulnerable / sensitive tire this year because they were required to be so by the FIA.

Correct me if I am wrong here but isnt Kevlar much more pliable than steel? And if so then the steel belt construction would make this tire much more vulnerable to a sharp edge such as a curb.

So everyone is right here.. If the drivers didnt curb they wouldnt have this issue. If Pirelli wasnt forced to make such a tire, we wouldnt have this issue.

All this bickering back and forth gets you nowhere and just raises y'alls BP and shows how uncouth you are.

But, WTF RACE WAS BANANAS. And I miss Hannibal Race Caps... these 6-9gb hd rips are annoying.
