Yet another race with Grosjean damaging his car... Even if Kimi goes to RBR next season, I predict Wholesale Jeans will be replaced simply because he breaks things too often.

Because they don't have engine deals for 2014 yet? What's your crystal ball say about Caterham?

BBC download really underscored how much better a job they do, I think I'm just going to torrents from now on. I would have done it years ago but it is a pretty heavy bandwidth hit. |

i'm not sure the tire explosions were 100% pirellis fault. sure, the tires should be able to stand up to more abuse than they were put through before failing, but i think if the drivers had stayed in the confines of the track and kerbs (ie: not using the green cement) i doubt there would have been any blowouts like we saw. |

Itīs the same curb for more than three years, but not in 2012 nor in 2011 we have seen any tire explosions. The GP2 held practice and two races at the same weekend in Silverstone, with Pirelli tires, no tire explosions. |

A number of commentators (especially DC) were going on about the white line being the edge of the circuit, but my understanding was only part of the car needs to stay on the circuit. Meaning, two wheels over the line is perfectly legal. Were these guys putting the entire car over the curb?

It does seem like they get closer and closer to having the outside tires on the line in some corners. In some corners it's worth a couple hundredths per lap.

They also added a bunch of drains since last year too. Is Silverstone heavy on left tires? There's got to be a reason it was all left rears going.

Anthony Davidson on the SkyPad showed Rosberg was perilously close to his tire going. The chunk was already visibly flapping off while he was on track. You could really see it starting to come apart.

the point is, they are driving off track. so technically, it's the drivers fault and pirelli and the fia aren't really required to do anything. driver's need to remain inside the white lines or risk things like this. however, i did say that the tires should be able to stand up to more abuse than they were put through. |

Two wheels on the curbs is not "driving off the track" or "corner cutting". Show me a racetrack on the calendar where the drivers aren't allowed to use the curbs. It's the racing line.

i'm not saying two wheels off is corner cutting. and i'm not saying driving over the red and white is not accepted. the kerbs are there to use. i agree.
it is when they are using the cement beyond the kerb (the green) that they are having issues, ESPECIALLY in T4 with the yaw angles the cars are having. the insides of the kerbs where the green meets the red and white is basically pulling at the sidewalls lap after lap and causing them to finally give out and blow off. and there definitely are some differences in the green cement from 2011 to 2013. there is more of it. IMO, the green gives the driver a reason to cut a little more and push a little more. so i do think the line has slightly evolved. every time they go onto the green and come back over the kerb, little bits of damage will be done. it all adds up. don't get me wrong. i do believe the tires should have been able to hold up to the abuse and i do think they need to change, but i don't think they were 100% at fault this weekend. |

Gotta love people arguing semantics.
The Pirellis are a much more vulnerable / sensitive tire this year because they were required to be so by the FIA. Correct me if I am wrong here but isnt Kevlar much more pliable than steel? And if so then the steel belt construction would make this tire much more vulnerable to a sharp edge such as a curb. So everyone is right here.. If the drivers didnt curb they wouldnt have this issue. If Pirelli wasnt forced to make such a tire, we wouldnt have this issue. All this bickering back and forth gets you nowhere and just raises y'alls BP and shows how uncouth you are. But, WTF RACE WAS BANANAS. And I miss Hannibal Race Caps... these 6-9gb hd rips are annoying. |
