Does the prosport oil pressure guage come with the galley plug and sender unit? I looks very small and compact

Do you mean the one under the alternator? If so I just took the alternator off and un-screwed the OEM gauge and then removed the OEM galley plug.
I replaced the OEM galley plug with an American threaded plug then screwed the new prosport sender into that.

Cheers!

The Prosport oil pressure gauge only comes with the small sending unit. The Galley plug I got from FastWRX.com. The prosport's use an American thread so it's different the the Metric threads of the OEM galley plug that the stock sender screws into. The Defi advanced gauges will screw into the OEM plug though.

Here is an updates picture of the clock re-location. I have it mounted to the bottom of the center console pocket and I use the top as a spot to mount my garage door opener.

Default clock relocation

How did you go about lengthening wires for the clock. I know it's a silly question but i'm terrible with electrical. I'm doing this install right now with some help. Thanks in advance.

Not a silly question, no worries,
I used a cable that I had laying around in the garage that has 8 wires in it. Thinking back now I'd say you can use a regular cat5 ethernet cable if you can't find anything else.
To extend the harness I just cut the plug off about 6 inch inches and extended one wire at a time using the new cable. Once the one side was done I cut the new cable roughly two feet and spliced the plug back in to the other end one wire at a time.

Worked like a charm, good luck!

About your oil press gauge install...

I'll be doing the install soon, so I have a question about the galley plug. From what I've been reading, under the alternator is the proper place to get a correct reading of oil pressure for a gauge. The other plug, the one you removed for the temp gauge... Would I get pressure from there as well? Would it be the same reading? I know you didn't do it that way, so I'm just asking in case you know.

The reason I ask is because of the removal of the oem pressure sensor. What effect will this have to the dash light, and the ecu or anything related for that matter? Will I have the dashlight on all the time?

Would you consider wise to add a "T" to maintain both oem and aftermarket gauge pressure sender? I'm not sure how a "T" screwed there would react to vibration, so I'm scared it might crack or break.

Hey Man,

You could use the back hole for the oil pressure but the way the port is in the block it's not the best place to grab a signal. I use t for temp just because it's a stable location without too much fluctuation.
The stock oil pressure signal has no effect on the ecu and is more used as an idiot light in the dash. Disconnecting it will NOT give you a light in the dash. There it no need to "T" off at all since it it a completely different type of electric signal and you will be able to see a pressure drop a lot faster with your gauge than the stock warning light can ever do.

Cheers,

- Jason

I'm in the process of relocating my clock, temp and mpg display and thought I'd share a couple photos to help others interested in doing this too. Figured I'd add them here to keep all the info in one place and credit Overland since his is the first thread I saw do this. The harness on my 2012 WRX has 7 wires but the plug in the back of the display is a 10 pin connector.

Here is a shot of the display once it is removed. There are 2 nubs on each side of the unit that lock into the tabs under the dash.

Got a question... When you ran wiring for the gauges, did you route them from the cabin to the engine bay, or vice versa? The hanger passes fine, but having the innovate is making it a bit harder due to the full harness being wider. Any tips?

I did go from the engine bay into the cabin with a huge struggle. Getting the hanger was the hardest part so If you got that far, make sure you do a good job of taping the wires to the hanger and don't be afraid to use WD40 to help the squeeze though the firewall.

Going through the drivers side fender well is definitely easier but I think I was too stubborn to give up once I decided I was going through the firewall.

Thanks. Pulled a bit harder with my fingers crossed and got them through. I guess I was just scared I was pulling too much. Thanks again.

Didn't read the whole post... I had 2 gauges already and just added the oil press, and my wiring was done through the fender. I redid the whole wiring because I wanted a cleaner look. Now, all that's left is making my custom pod.

In another note, I think I read somewhere that you added wiring for relocating the clock. Am I right? When I saw it had 8 wires, I thought about just leaving it unplugged. I pulled on the clock harness and managed to bring it down to the shifter trim without adding wiring. It's pretty tight, but it reaches.

Thanks again.

ok... couple more questions...

I just noticed in your first post pic that you don't have the car lighter thingy... I didn't care to check if it was removable, but seeing how it blocks the pod there, I was just thinking of removing it. Is it a removable piece, or did you have to cut?

About the oil press gauge... What's your reading at idle after you have driven for a while? Mine is reading 8-9 psi, so I had to set the warning to a lower point because the warning beep was always on at stop lights or when parked. A friend told me an oil change should bring the pressure up a bit, and after I did it, it's still the same. He also told me that his car (Mazdaspeed3) had this same issue at first, and the pressure got better when he stopped using the oem oil filter and went with a K&N one. He made choice just for the pressure, not for racing purposes or anything.

I used the sender under the alternator, same as in your install thread, so I just want to know if this is normal. I read people saying their WRX stock oil press sits steady at 15-30 psi at idle. I live in Puerto Rico, and the lowest morning temps I get are 65 F at the most, so I'm guessing this has something to do with this. Any ideas?

And another thing...

I got my galley plug from Prosport, and it fits where the oem galley plug screws into. They tell you in the description to use it where you used the temp sender. From what I read, it's the oem sender threads (IIR something something) that are different from the Prosport's sender (NPT), which is why they sell the galley plug separately. Just adding in case anyone has doubts or gets confused...

When you installed the oil pressure gauge and removed oem plug did the dummy light come on since it was no longer used?

Nope, the signal for the light to illuminate in the dash requires the wire to be grounded. If you tie it back you won't get a light, if you happen to strip the connector off and jam it into a metal object you'll get a light, lol

The cigarette lighter does not remove easily, I actually cut it out of the dash to fit the clock up there. I had the clock there for about a day until I realized that I liked it a lot better down at the bottom of the cubby. Now I don't have a outlet anymore. Don't miss it a bit though, never used it anyway...

Your oil pressure is similar to mine. When it's really hot I get down around 5 psi so I wouldn't worry to much about it. During the winter, it hovers around 7-8 when warm.

No prob. Imagined you missed it.

Can you post the link to the video where you show a time lapse of the dash removal? I wanna see everything that needs to be removed, and that time lapse is better than watching youtubers showing it bolt by bolt. :-)

I was getting worried about the pressure, but my dash light never came on before having the gauge, so I thought I might've been overreacting.

Oh... And here's my custom pod:

Boost, oil press, afr... Most of the installations taken from your threads, so thanks!
